I found the bananna bread surprisingly good… quite a bit better than Starbucks. I’d definitely come here again to try the wide variety of cakes and pastries. There is a copious amount of outdoor, shaded seating, and a Ms Pac Man table game indoors. Not as many couches as I’d expect for a “living room” concept, but the free wireless is a plus. Across the street from Old Town; free 2hr street parking.

The rooftop pool bar has pub food which is just OK. The cheese plate was probably the best dish, followed by the rosemary fries then the mini burgers and finally the hot wings which were just plain odd. Best time to go is after sunset when the pool is lit, projection TV plays the game and pretty spotlights illuminate the patio. Difficult to put in a food order if you have drinks in your hand.

This review refers to the bar/lounge (“C Level”): the food here is fairly good, even tasty, but really you are going for the view. It’s the sublime San Diego experience to look out over the city with a 270 degree panorama from the open air patio lounge. The mojito was the best drink we sampled.

While frozen yoghurt will never top ice cream (which will never top frozen custard) in my book, this yoghurt is very good, the variety of flavors is excellent (asian peach?), the real hook for me is the number of really fresh toppings that are available, in particular the fresh fruit. And as my friend noted, it has “the freshest gummie worms” we’ve ever tasted. The line moves fast, but there is always a line.

Very authentic, inexpensive Vietnamese food; noodle soups are the specialty. The best You Tiau (Chinese donuts, at the register) I’ve had in San Diego. The decor is very authentic as well… mirrored walls, giant fish tank, and several back-lit cityscapes.

The food here is not good. Rubber chicken on my caesar, pasta that was over-warmed and dry on the edges, and oddly non-italian menu (Philly cheese steak???) Also, bread at the table is $4. However, the outdoor street patio is wonderful.

This spacious web cafe, now named “Cream”, has free wireless, an impressive (and intimidating) number of industrial extension cords for plugging in your computer in between tables, and a gigantic corner fan though not A/C. The music is hip and energetic but not loud, and the chairs are an eclectic mix of mid-century modern. Wine is also served, in case writer’s block is not lifted with caffeine. Sandwiches, baked goods, smoothies, coffee, tea.
