Great sushi, unsung local hero
This sushi-cum-hibachi restaurant is unlike others that attempt the “all-in-one Japanese joint” approach: the sushi is actually great: fresh, tasty, and imaginative. The hibachi side has all the suburban restaurant theatrics—flying shrimp, clanging spatulas on big group griddle tables—to keep Little Leaguers and other non-adventurous types happy, but it’s gleefully separate from the sushi side. How they’re able to pull off both is amazing. And yes, it’s in a strip mall.
The owner, Paul, has revamped the menu recently to include a “fusion” twist, but promises the sushi will remain a focal point. A new dessert, tempura cheesecake, simply cannot be missed.

Great find on Rte. 7
I don’t know about the places that used to occupy this space, but Coco Bongos is a welcome addition to the area. Not a gloppy Mexican joint—in fact, the Latin fusion menu is inventive and unqiue. Everything is served with flair and is extremely tasty. Don’t miss the flank steak w/garlic potatoes, and have no fear in ordering any of the exotic seafood entrees. And yes, they make a mean mojito…
The neighboring buildings are a little dingy on the outside, but don’t let that influence your decision to stop by and give it a try. Even if the outside says Rte. 7, the inside still says Ridgefield.
