Store bought quality
If you are looking for a quick cheap sushi lunch, that is all you are going to get. I grabbed a rainbow roll to go and it just had a stale, prepackaged taste to it. Chewy rice and I was surpirsed the roll was made with eel as typically rainbow is based on a california roll.

Smallest Restaurant...Best Sushi
Toro is by far one of the most surprising places to get amazing sushi. At first glance it looks like your typical hole in the wall sushi joint. However, don’t let the tiny restaurant fool you. With waits up to 2 hours every night of the week, the sushi will leave you with nothing but an amazing taste in your mouth. You can arrive and put your name on the list with phone number then they call you when table is ready. They are closed Monday nights, and all afternoons. You can’t go wrong with any of the rolls. Of course the restaurant is also BYOB.

Fantastic Concept...SO Delicious
Huge fan of Flat Top. The food is delicious, and the bread is out of this world. One thing I noticed however is your clothes smell like cooking oil once you leave, and I wouldn’t recommend this as a first date type of place since in essence it’s a buffet. The qualinty of sauces is abundant, however I was a little confused on which combinations to select. Luckily there is a chalk board with suggestions. Great plus is there is a student discount price!

Great Margaritas and Food
I’m a big fan of Tarascas. I equally enjoy the food options as well as the margaritas. THhir menu consists of a bit more quality food then typical Mexican resturants in the area. The restaurant can get pretty busy for dinner and the open atmosphere can leave it very loud. In the warmer months they have outdoor seating which is fantastic. I highly recommend the burrito covered in cheese!

A Great Dining Experience in a Romantic Setting
Gejas has a fantastic atmostphere. The resturant is dimly lit and the booths are nicely sectioned off from each other so you do not feel as though you are sitting on top of your neighbor.
I could not have been more pleased on both dining occasions. Gettting the premier dinner is a lengthy, but fun expierence. The amount of food is definitely over the top. It may not look like a lot but by the 4th course its hard to move out of your seat. It’s a great deal to go during Chicago’s restaurant week or to find coupons on restuarant.com for discounts on the dinners.
Reservations are a must, and I would recommend requesting a booth for a more intimate dining experience.

Best Italian in the neighborhood, fantastic for a date!
I’ve been coming to Sapori for almost 3 years and always have fantastic food. Some of the pasta portions are incredibly large. The Rigatoni Caprese is amazing, and again you will have leftovers. The Pumpkin “Ravioli” or Lobster “Ravioli” are great as well, however it’s only 5-6 pieces and filling, but no leftovers. Once you are on their mailing list you get coupons about once a month. The best deal is Family Style Mondays. Its a great way to try new things and a super cheap deal. Its a cute little restaurant and very appropriate for a date or special occasion. I would recommend reservations. The only thing I had not been satisfied with was the Squash Soup…it tasted more like Minnestroni and was not a creamy base.
Dishes I tried:
Gnocchi Dello Chef
The Gnocci with pesto and chicken is great! make sure you like pesto though cause its coated. Very large portion.
Tiramisu
Can’t go wrong with this famous Italian dessert. Very authentic flavor, and very large portion to easily share.

Unique Food You'll Never Forget
I LOVE Bongo Room. Anytime I have an out of town guest I take them here for the unique breakfast items, and everytime they come back to visit we return.
Granted the wait on a saturday morning is long, but it is worth it.
The menu is seasonal, but for the most part the same, with some tweeks on pancake toppings and whatnot.
I love the breakfast burritto and the seasoned potatoes that come on the side with most dishes are GREAT.
Now onto the pancakes which are more like dessert. ThHey are incredible and to die for. I wouldn’t recommend just getting pancakes for breakfast because of how sweet they are. A little known secret is you can order just 1 pancake off the menu instead of the whole pancake meal. This is great to share or split and meal with a friend and then each try a new pancake. Yes it’s pricey. You’ll pay $5 for one pancake but they are amazing. The chocoate french toast tower is amazing. Loads of chocolate, bananas and syrup-y goodness.
Service is typical but you are going for the food.

Fantastic Place for Margaritas
I love coming here with friends for 1/2 price margaritas on tuesdays/thursdays. They are large, strong and have a variety of flavors. The food is actually surprisingly great. While we usually are drawn by the margaritas their menu is quite surpirsing. I would choose their food anyday or Cesars.
The outdoor patio/back room is great for the summer time.

Simply Amazing
It seems that frozen yogurt is all the rage, however not all restuarants can satisfy the full frozen yogurt experience unlike Berry Chill. First, there range of toppings are unbelievable. Pretty much everything you can imagine. Plus the price includes up to 3 toppings. Secondly, if you have never been before they are very generous is sample portion sizes. I thought the service of the late night crew at this location was great. They were fun and energetic. Finally, they have a great recycling program. You can collect and save your used cups/spoons and return them for free yogurt in the future.

A GREAT choice for Happy Hour
Nothing beats drink specials…well except food specials. Trinity has 1/2 price of all food between 5-7pm. Typically bar food can all taste the same but Trinity actually came through with some great stuff. Sandwiches are all amazing. I’m a HUGE fan of the turkey reuban on rye. AND they all coming with amazing seasoned waffle friends. The fries are phenominal and they give you a huge portion. I recently tried the pizza which was surprisingly great and huge, I could only eat just over half…not bad for $4. All the sandiches are about $9 before the discount. If you get there early there are large tables in the back which are convienent for groups of friends and watching sports on their tvs. Great daily drink specials and even really good deals and friday and saturday night. It’s definitely a great bar to try in lincoln park if you haven’t already.

11/05/2009I love the breakfast burrito too. It’d be great if they were open in the evenings – the pancakes would be tasty desserts.
