Flavorful and inexpensive are two words I use to describe a local favorite BBQ restaurant in Kernersville, NC. People from all over the Triad enjoy both Lexington and Eastern style barbeque here.

My first experience came about through a friend’s referral. We were on our way to Hanging Rock State Park and stopped to eat.

The first thing you notice about the place is that it’s set off the road a bit. It seems that the city grew up around it.

Inside there are hard wooden booths and chairs. The tables are covered with a red gingham checked tablecloth. I felt like I was in the fabled Dukes of Hazzard’s Boar’s Nest except the lighting was much better.

The process is simple. You place your order at the counter. The people behind you will expect you to know what you want if you are in front of them in line.

Then you receive your ticket with a number. Make your own drink and take a seat. When your number is called pick up your food. The wait will be 5-7 minutes on average.

I have to admit, although the decor reminds me of something like a James Dean/Elvis/NASCAR museum it wasn’t garish. The bathrooms were clean.

I think that to be truly comfortable at Prissy Polly’s you might want know a little bit about racing, bluegrass music, farming, and have an accent thicker than molasses – just to translate the staff accurately.
