Stefano's Pizzeria & Restaurant

Pizza, Calzones & Rolls
Dinner for six. Medium pizza, a calzone and a roll. Service was average.

Calzone
I chose pepperoni & sausage as my filling and the sauc eon the side. The crust was nice, and there was plenty of meat inside – so much so I couldn’t eat it all. I ate half at the restaurant & took the other half home – it was huge! My only complaint was that it was so very greasy, which is to be expected from the fillings I chose.

roll
My husband had a roll with pepperoni, it was much smaller, and had a good bit of cheese. The two offerings seemed to be the same item other than size.

Cafe Du Monde - French Market

A Classic New Orleans Institution
Really, if you come to New Orleans without making a stop at the French Market for this delectable and famous treat, shame on you.
"Nuff said.

Beignets
I am unable to replicate these at home, even after purchasing dozens of boxes of mix. It must be the deep fryers they use.
-
Coffee & Chickory
This too, just doesn’t taste the same at home, no matter how I might try. I just can not wait to get back!

Located in Nice N' Easy gas station
Not a stand-alone restaurant, but handles all the regular menu items just fine.
Buffalo Grill West

Great Family Place
Buffalo Grill is a great place for a family meal. The servers are quick on their feet, there is plenty of room, & tables are easily moved together.
Plan on easy, limited menu selection. Burgers, sandwiches, and chicken dishes are standard here. A short list makes for quick delivery, and quick in and out.

Chicken Chimis. . .
I still hit this place every time I am in town. Although the recipe seems to have changed, I am not able to find chimichangas anywhere else that are similar.

Star Of India

Excellent for First Timers
The lunch buffet haseveral dishes which offer an nice range of Indian dishes, including chicken, lamb, vegetarian, and rande from mild to spicy. The staff is kind, and the owner is usually visibly overseeing daily operations, and happy to answer questions. The tables are set with starched white cloths, which is uncommon these days and definately sticks out in my mind.

Dinosaur Bar B Que
Feb 26, 2007
Rock & Roll Dining with a Whole Lotta Soul!
I am a genuine Southern Girl with a lifetime of barbeque joints under my belt. From Memphis to New Orleans, and Florida to Little Rock, I have had all sorts, and Dinosaur comes darn close to the best! (Sorry guys, but the best goes to a tie between two places back home, that unfortunately, due to the family nature of the business, the staunch Southern stubborness of the owners to divulge the recipe, and the age of those folks, are sadly out of business.)
The Dinosaur cannot be beat for its genuine, honky tonk atmosphere, and its amazing pulled pork. Other dishes are great too, and I don;t believe there is anything on the menu I wouldn;t recommend.
Be prepared for a shoulder to shoulder, standing wait while the ultra-polite waitresses boogie around you, arms loaded with plates steaming and scheming to make your stomach growl. The wait is worth it my friend, and when you roll out stuffed, you will certainly agree.
