Frozen chicken

I am adding this restaurant to my list of pitiful Mexican Restaurants in the Triangle.

I walked in to this place just after what would normally be lunchtime. There were only a few people in the place and no one at the front to greet me.

No problem, Let me go to the restroom first.

I should have known this was going to be bad because the restroom needed to be cleaned. BADLY.

Ok, so this East LA boy has seen worse. Let me find a table. Lots to choose from. Some were clean. I figured, Hey the lunch crowd just left. Maybe they have not had a chance to clean up yet.

A waitress walks up. A half-hearted and burdened smile swept across her face. She brings chips and salsa, but does not clean the table or give me any silverware or napkins.

No big deal. Hopefully the food will make up for it. I ordered off the lunch menu. Pollo Ranchero (sizzling) with beans and tortillas.

I looked appetizing enough as it came out sizzling in Fajita Fashion,
I thought this is going to be great. It wasn’t. Not. even.close.

The chicken was sizzling and nestled on a bed of grilled peppers and onions. It had been bathed in a cheese-like sauce but it lacked flavor. It was rigid and I got the feeling this chicken’s residence for the past few weeks had been the walk-in freezer.

The beans were refried and tasted like Rosarita right out of the can,

They only served fountain drinks which I abhor.

Not a very memorable experience.
