Santa Ramen

Sep 27, 2007 Link

best ramen in bay area

The ramen is delicious and mouth watering. I think their broth is one of the best. I do prefer the shoyu broth more than the other two (pork or miso).

However, the ambiance and the service are not that great. The place is so small that the wait is usually over 45 minutes. I personally think the wait is worthed, but I can’t wait until they move to their new place by 92.

Shake Shack

yummy burger!

Love the burger and the ambiance! It’s a great place to enjoy a shroom burger and enjoy the city park too. The only downfall is its high price. Get ready to spend at least $20 for burgers, fries, drinks and concrete.

Tani's Kitchen

Good homestyle Japanese food

This restaurant is super tiny – definitely a hole in the wall with only 3 tables and a bar area. I usually order to go because the wait for a table can get ridiculous. The place is owned by this Japanese couple and the husband cooks the meal all day! I think this place has the best homestyle Japanese food in the area. My favorite dish is chicken katsu donburi, which is a mix of fried chicken, eggs, green onions and their sauce over rice. Yum… SO GOOD! Their chicken karaage is pretty good too. The price is really reasonable, although I think they recently increased their prices. Definitely worth trying!

Yakitori Taisho

Jan 16, 2007 Link

Chicken meatball skewers, please!

The restaurant is pretty cramped, small &tight and unfortunately, the lines can get long. Not the greatest place for large groups because the place is so small. Their service isn’t always the greatest… The last time I was there, the waiter barely spoke English… so we had to point at our menu to order. But other than all that, this place is awesome! I never mind the wait and the service because their yakitori is the best! You can also put your name down next door and see which place takes you in first (There are two Yakitori Taisho – one at 5 St. Marks and the other at 9 St. Marks). The food is super cheap, especially for New York and it’s always delicious… Everything I’ve ordered off the menu have been really good! But the chicken meatball skewers and unagi tofu are still my favorites!!

It’s off of their entree menu – you can choose 5 diff kinds of skewers and it also comes with rice, spaghetti, potato salad, miso soup and salad – all for $8.50! What a deal!

Grimaldi's Pizzeria

Best Pizza in New York!

This place has the best thin crust brick oven pizza I’ve ever had. It’s worth the short trip to Brooklyn from Manhattan. The waiting in line is a bummer, but you have to try their pizza at least once! I love the fresh tomatoes and mozzarella cheese topping. Delicious! After being stuffed with pizza, I love to walk down towards the river and enjoy a beautiful view of Manhattan, even when it’s 0 degrees outside.

Simpang Asia

Craving for some Indo food?

This place has the best Indonesian food in Cali. It’s so good that everytime I’m in LA area, I’ll go there to eat and order more food to go. The looks of the place can be deceiving. I took one of my friends there once and he was confused on why we were walking into a grocery store for lunch. But trust me, I’ve never been disappointed with their food. The food is always really authentic and fresh. Also great bargain with their very affordable prices.

Really yummy coconut rice.. Tastes just like how they make it in Indonesia!

Everyone else’s favorite, but I don’t like it as much as Nasi Uduk because it’s way too spicy for me.
