Cozy Italian restaurant

Be sure to make reservations for dinner on weekends, or else you’ll end up with a long wait. Closed on Mondays, I think.

Whole Foods Market

Great vegetarian, organic foods

A bit pricey but worth it. The deli area has plenty to choose from: bakery, burritos, smoothies, sushi, soup and salad bar, as well as various hot and cold foods. Excellent place to get vegetarian and organic foods.

Cheap but good Vietnamese food

Good pho, as well as “dry” noodle plates.

A & J Restaurant

Authentic northern Chinese eatery

I brought a friend who’s lived in Beijing for years and he was happy with this place. My aunt, who is Chinese-American, also prefer this place to ones in Los Angeles and Shanghai.

The environment is pretty authentic Chinese, with loud voices, workers making dumplings at the tables, and no-frills service. But the tea is hot, the prices are cheap, and the food is good. Try the beef noodle soup, with a cold side of marinated cucumbers.
