Ambiance and food were amazing!!
Warm cafe atmosphere, service is good, they do have art on the walls to purchase, which makes the place look nice. Easy access at the University Center in Irvine.
Dishes I tried:
Ratatouille
The food was amazing. The vegetables were grilled and tender over delicious polenta. The bread was a really nice rosemary infused and warm. My friend had the scallops which were buttery and wonderful. Would go again, is a little expensive, but well worth it.

Great neighborhood burger place
Small, sports bar type atmosphere. Lots of TV’s with football and a few beers. People are really friendly and nice.
Dishes I tried:
San Francisco Burger
Great Burgers, can get just about any option that you want. Chose the San Francisco Burger and was really great. The onion rings are the best I have ever had. Food is really HOT! I rarely get food that is hot so was kind of a surprise and I really liked it. Used to most restaurants serving food luke warm.

Excellent Italian
I have been to the site in Costa Mesa and in Huntington Beach (the original). The food is fantastic, like mom makes! I just love the pasta here the red sauce is amazing and the meatballs and spagetti are like homemade. Have had the stuffed mushrooms and they are not greasy. Neither is the lasagna, good cheese and sauce mix. I know that this is a family run operation and the kids are using their grandmas recipes. The restraunt is vintage Italian restraunt, dark floors, red booths and lots of pics on the walls, very cool for me. At the Costa Mesa location they have flat screen TV’s that when are not playing some playoff game has a running tape of a fireplace going! The waiters are all very nice and helpful! Love this place alot.
Dishes I tried:
Lasagna
Huge portions! But, the lasagna is nice and full of cheese and meats, nice sauce and is not greasy.
Spagetti and Meatballs
Sauce was like my mother makes, meatballs are HUGE and have a nice spice to them. Again, a huge portion.

Excellent vegitarian
I am not a vegitarian or vegan, nor do I eat the raw style of cooking. However, I came to Au Lac 5 or 6 years ago as my friend found this jewel of a restraunt. They have updated the decor of the restruant which is really lovely, but the food is still amazing. I have had the Spring Rolls which are fresh and crisp and on my last visit I had the “Beef” (tofu) and watercress. It was simply fantastic in taste and texture. I have also had the noodle soups and they are excellent as well. Do not be afraid of this restraunt being vegitarian as you will be missing out on delicious Asian style foods.
Dishes I tried:
"Beef" (tofu) and Watercress
Wonderful taste and texture. Not soggy. Nice flavors and I did not miss beef at all.
