This is my favorite restaurant. The menu is lots of fun with well done comfort food that reminds you of your childhood. I love the fried corn appetizer. I usually make a meal of apps and sides so I can try lots of things. Save room for the butterscotch pudding.

Best burger in Denver. Tons of toppings to choose from. I opt for the fresh jalapenos and cream cheese. Get a basket of fries and rings to go with it. Great beer selection too.

I’m not a huge fan of chinese food; I would rather have thai or vietnamese. I just finished reading a book about the history of chinese food in America though so I had a craving. I hadn’t been to Little Ollie’s for years so decided to try it again and I’m glad I did.

The pork spring rolls we started with were fine but nothing special. My General Tao’s chicken (the topic of one chapter in the book) was very tasty with high quality white meat chicken (sketchy dark meat chicken freaks me out) and my friend’s Thai Basi chicken was also very good with a nice bit of heat to it.

Comfort food for me means the normal...

Comfort food for me means the normal midwestern pleasures like mashed potatoes and macaroni & cheese but also indian saag paneer and thai curry (which is also the best cure for a cold I’ve ever found!)

Needing comfort food tonight, we decided to order takeout from the new thai basil restaurant near us. The takeout service was incredibly fast and was ready when they said it would be.

The crab cheese wontons were tasty and held up well to the takeout process which isn’t always the case with fried dishes. The sauce with them scared me a bit with its bright red color but it wasn’t nearly as sweet as it looked.

The vietnamese egg rolls were also good and came with nice accompaniments. I was disappointed that the lettuce leaves they came with were completely soggy from the heat of the egg rolls and couldn’t be used to wrap up the egg rolls. On the other hand the slivers of fried garlic mixed in with the rice noodles blew me a way. A great addition.

My panang curry was good. The chicken was white meat and high quality, an absolute requirement. The portion was huge and the inclusion of sweet potatoes in the curry was a nice touch. We requested the dishes to be spicy when we ordered and I was disappointed in the lack of heat in the dish but enjoyed it none the less. Will be having a few more meals with the leftovers.

Finally we had the pad thai. Again a little disappointed in the lack of heat but a good pad thai. My husband actually complained that there was too much meat and he really likes the noodles but I doubt many people would have a problem with that.

Need to try it again when we are in the mood for the more adventurous dishes on the menu but for a night of comfort food and football it totally worked for me tonight.
