is currently starving..."LIFE'S TO SHORT FOR BAD FOOD!"
I eat out quite a lot, nearly everyday. I’m a 40 year old male and have lived in Richmond my entire life. Some of my favorite resturants are Honey Whyte’s, Zuppa and The Hard Shell. Stay tuned Richmond, I’m gonna start posting on a regular basis!

Sette
Feb 4, 2007
Not really all that....
Not really a big fan of Sette. They really only have wood fired pizzas. I guess it’s not to bad, but it’s certainly not one of my favorites for pizza. I do like their outside patio when it’s warm. Good drinks. Service is ok.

Pho 79

Interesting and Yummy!
Pho 79 is a fun vietnamese spot on Staples Mill. In case you didn’t know, Pho is Vietnamese Noodle Soup, and that’s pretty much all they serve. Pho is VERY tasty! They offer a lot of different varieties. Most are beef based but the chicken Pho is great too. Sparse decorations, adaquete service. Large portions! I love their tee-shirts. They say ” It’s Pho-King Good!” Give it a try if your looking for something a little different.

The Hard Shell
Feb 4, 2007
Another great meal at The Hard Shell
My wife and I ate at The Hard Shell last week. It was great, as usual. The girl that owns this place also owns The Hill Cafe and Europa. Let me tell ya, this girl knows how to run a resturant! All 3 place are freakin great! I suggest a reservation, they are usually pretty crowded. Friday nights feature The Butterbean Jazz Quartet, a favorite suinday nite bottom’s up staple. Good wine selection. A little loud, but very good! A little pricey, but well worth it!

Zuppa
Feb 4, 2007
Eat Soup or Die!
I love Zuppa. I just ate at the new location. They moved across the street from where they have been for the last couple years. But I gotta say that I’m a little concerned. Zuppa is known for it’s delicious soups. It was the main focus at the old location. Now, the soups take up just a small portion of the menu, and they don’t appear to offer daily special made soups. Also, one of my favorite sandwiches in the world, The Zuppa Grilled Cheese, is no longer available for dinner. I complained about that and was told that since they’d been open in the new location for 2 days and had already heard several complaints about that, then they would probably bring it back. They made it for me even though it technically wasn’t available. Our server was a little spacey and was obviously new. Hell, the whole place is new. I like the atmosphere and they now have a real bar. I really hope they make it in the new location. The owners seem real nice and I appreciated the special order for the grilled cheese. It’s definitly a unique place. Good Luck Zuppa! (keep the focus on the soups!)

Extra Billy's BarBQ

Extra Billys
I took my mom there for her birthday Friday night. She used to like it alot. When we walked in I was shocked to see hardly anybody there. It used to be packed on a Friday nite. The service was just ok, not bad, but just ok. I had the brisket. It was a pretty dry but still tender. I spiced it up with the sauces on the table. I prefer the North Carolina style. My mom got the pulled pork BBQ> It was pretty good. One good thing about Billys are the sides. I love them all, even if the portions are a little small. They used to be known for their large salad bar. It’s still there, but it doesn’t seem quite as impressive. Overall, not a bad place to take your mom for her birthday.

Honey Whyte's All American Cafe
Feb 4, 2007
Really cool place!
The best burgers in Richmond by far! My favorite is the black and blue. The cheesesteak is great too. Good drink specials. Fun atmosphere for Shockoe Bottom. It’s quieter and more mature than all the meat-market bars down there. Honey Whyte’s is one of my all time favorite places in Richmond. Try them, you won’t be sorry.
