what a wonderful establishment!!
jerzy’s ambiance is astounding. they have managed to create a beautiful, intimate setting where everyone seems to always be happy and enjoying themselves. its difficult to capture in words, but worth visiting just for the experience in and of itself!
they have a very nice wine list, and the servers seem to be very knowledgeable about the choices.you can really tell that they love their job and the establishment in which they work, which is so refreshing!!
in terms of the menu, the food was very nicely presented and delicious too! it is the perfect size: not too large, and offering a nice selection of antipasti and tapas that pair wonderfully with their wines! my friend and i are quite the beer fans as well, so we were SUPER excited to see their selection! they don’t serve any American brews, but instead have a large selection of Eastern European beers which we were very pleasantly surprised to somewhere other than a specialty shop!
i highly recommend jerzy’s wine bar to anyone looking for great wine, delicious food, and genuine service, in an environment unlike any other on the eastside!
Dishes I tried:
bruschetta
a bit of a twist on the regular recipe most places serve, combining fresh tomatoes and sundried tomatoes with artisan cheeses, basil, and whatever else they put into it to make it AMAZING!! i loved it!!
cheese platter
WOW, this really hit the spot! we got an assortment of smoked gouda, gorgonzola, goat cheese, and bre; along with 4 accompaniments that were delicious and just the right size! perfect for pairing with any of their delicious wines.. i highly recommend it!!
sweatheart crepe
oh my goodness, and i thought i was in heaven with the above dishes!! this crepe was perfect! it was made exactly how i had it on my trip to france last year, including even a bit of buckwheat in the batter! it was the perfect texture, with just the right amount of belgian chocolate, strawberries and almonds… topeed with delcious, home-made whipped cream (yes, trust me i could tell!!) and presented beautifully, in the shape of a heart (now if that isnt the perfect touch to a “sweet HEART” crepe than i dunno what is!). absolutely delicious!
pork loin and poached-pear salad
ok so i didnt order this, but my friend did and i certainly had to try it! :) the pork was perfectly seasoned, prepared in a white wine, cream sauce that was divine! it was served alongside a poached-pear salda, which claims to be the owner’s specialty.. and rightfully so-it was delicious! im not even a huge fan of pears personally, but i could have definitely had a serving of those alone for dessert! YUM!
pierogi-combo of meat, potatoe and cheese, blueberry, cherry and plum
when we saw that they have AUTHENTIC Polish pierogi, we had to give them a try! it was great how they allowed us to do a combo and try all the different kinds, even though im sure its a bit of a hassle.. one of my friends apparantly know pierogi quite well and is a huge fan, so we were counting on him for his comments. i thought they were totally scrumptious, but curious how they would measure up to his “expertise” haha! and, yet again, jerzy’s delivered 100%!! he said that they were the best he has ever had on the west coast (apparently he had tried quite a few in Chicago, which has a huge polish population), and just as good as the ones he tried in the east!
i love fruit, so my favorite were all of the fruit ones, but once again, we all highly recommend every single one of them!
