Great food, great service, great beer!
Leaving from Bozeman, MT a week ago, we drove 3,000 miles in search of a good meal. I’m pleased to say that this meal was found at The Moose’s Tooth, in Anchorage.
When we arrived at 10:00 pm on Saturday night, the place was packed. We waited for a few minutes before being seated—giving me time to count the number of beers on tap: twenty-four.
Our service was quick and courteous. Our appetizer—a plate of roasted garlic, bread, tomatoes, and Gorgonzola was on our table, piping hot, minutes after ordering. And my—was it tasty!
We tried eight beers, all brewed by the Moose’s Tooth (they offer a four-beer sampler for $5). They were all really good. The pale ale and IPA were particularly good, in my opinion.
Their menu—like their beer list—is extensive. The number of ingredients available is mind-boggling!
The atmosphere was casual—befitting a pizza joint. Nevertheless, the service and presentation were better than most “fancier” restaurants I’ve eaten at.
As a final bonus—it’s affordable. Our meal, complete with appetizer, more pizza than we could eat, eight small beers, and a delicious desert, totaled to $40. Curiously, the best meal on our road trip was also the cheapest. It might be worth going back to Anchorage, just to go back!
Dishes I tried:
Wild Mushroom Pizza - Medium
The pizza sounded slightly better on the menu than in actuality, but was nevertheless really yummy! The medium is a 14" pizza—the same size as a Papa John’s large. I enjoyed getting to eat a variety of mushrooms on the same pizza.
