Yes, the food here is far better than your tab would care to admit. Cafe Habana is: elbow-to-elbow, pardon-me-please-repeat, unpretentious-decor-focus-on-the-food Cuban goodness.

I visit this tiny hole-in-the-wall tapas bar once a month, if not every other week. The service is incomparable, the atmosphere is cozy and carefree, the sangria is refreshing, and the food is fantastic. It all just comes together to be one of my favourite places to be in the city. (The gambas never fails to impress.)

My new favourite restaurant.

It’s not often you come across a really good restaurant in the West Village that isn’t full of itself. Smorgas is perfectly situated, unpretentious, and can boast a genuinely friendly & attentive wait staff.

The menu is great because it offers small plates for grazers like me, as well as a fantastic selection of tempting and immaculately presented entrees.

Oh, and the coffee is superb too.
