An oasis
Visiting the coast to duck the heat. Stayed in this great coastal village. Went to breakfast and lunch several times at Al’s, after trying a few others closer to the beach. Al’s is worth the 10 minute walk. I’ve never seen so many types of Eggs Benedicts on any menu. And all that I tried were great. Our kids loved the “Mickey Mouse” pancakes and PBnJ French Toast.
My wife loved the selection of fresh salads and the portions were huge. We asked them about samples of their freshly made fudge and were blown away by the taste and quality. I sent some to our nephew serving in Iraq.
We will make it a point to return in a few months, when we revisit Carlsbad.
Dishes I tried:
House Smoked Salmon Benedict
Perfectly prepared and delicious Hollandaise Sauce.

Simple, straightforward
I’ve only gone to lunch at Truli’s. A good sign is how good it smells when you enter. If you want a quiet lunch go elsewhere. Tables are small and very close together. However, it is lively and the fare is delicious.
Dishes I tried:
Ravioli Bolognese
Excellent texture and flavor.

Best Pizza and Brew
A great hang out for relaxing over great pizzas and beers. Lots of room, plenty of seating and nice people.
Owners obviously highly supportive of the local sports community, a great community asset. I visit Carlsbad weekly for business. This is the BEST PIZZA IN TOWN.
The food was great. Crust was just the way we like it.
Dishes I tried:
Pepperoni and Mushroom Pizza
Great, hot, bubbly, perfect thickness of crust.
