good atmosphere and entertainment
The food here was decent, but it was also expensive so I would expect at least that much. It wasn’t anything fantastic though… I would come back here for the atmosphere. The service was really great, and the best part was the table-side preparations, especially the desserts. The live band is also very nice. Overall, I felt like it was only worth the high price because of the atmosphere and service, not really because the food was that excellent. For the same price, I think I could get a better steak dinner somewhere else like the Met maybe.

fun and tasty!
This is a really fun place to dine. It’s got that city feel- kind of loud, bustling. I guess it depends on what you’re in the mood for, but I appreciated the atmosphere when I went.
Everything I ate was really good, and I only wish i could have tried more. They have a lot of choices, and a lot of the choices are pretty unique. Honestly, I didn’t know what a lot of the stuff on the menu was, but we just chose what sounded good, and asked the waiter for a cheese recommendation and everything turned out to be really good.
And for dessert lovers, this place is excellent! Again, lots of choices, and none were disappointing
Dishes I tried:
duck confit and cambozola
the waiter described this as “duck fried in its own fat”
it’s a little on the greasy side, but tasty (one of the tasting bar items)
grilled chorizo and roasted garlic
mmm! pork meat on top of toasted bread… another tasting bar item
primaverde
i liked this pasta because it had a lot of vegetables (spinach, peas, cherry tomatoes). served with a yummy cream based sauce. i split this dish with someone, and it was still plenty
syrah brownie
best brownie i’ve ever had
mango white chocolate moussse with blackberry sauce
this was so good… regretfully small portion

food was okay...
Interior decor is nice.. I also like the fact that they serve food until 1 am. I was looking for a place to eat downtown at around 11 pm, and this was the only place I could find that still had their kitchen open this late.. other places were either closed or only had their bar open.
Both times I’ve been here, I haven’t been too impressed with the food, but the prices are really good for stuff off the happy hour menu. So for the price, the sushi and other hot items are decent. i think the food off the dinner menu is overpriced though for the quality of the food.
Dishes I tried:
Bulgogi steak
too salty and it didn’t come with rice… just meat and vegetables. overpriced

Great place for sushi and happy hour
This is one of my favorite places for sushi. They have a huge selection of sushi, rolls, hot food, etc., and all the ones I’ve tried have been very good. They also have a good dessert selection (green tea ice cream, mochi ice cream, tempura ice cream among others). Their happy hour is really good, with great deals on sushi and appetizers.
Dishes I tried:
badboy roll
this is so good!
tropical paradise roll
this is my favorite! it has strawberry and salmon in the roll, and then it’s topped with tuna and mango slices and blueberry sauce… so it might sound kind of weird, but the combination works!

cute restaurant on alki
I came here with my cousin who was visiting from Canada. We came on a weekday and it was pretty empty when we came, which was nice because we got a table right by the window so we could see the water.
This place is supposed to be known for their breakfast I think. They have a lot of the traditional breakfast foods, but a there are more seafood options. I think we had crabcake eggs benedict and seafood egg scramble. Both were good, and it was nice to have seafood with breakfast because you don’t get that at most restaurants.
I liked the service here. The waitress was very friendly, and this place has a kind of homey feel. It’s a nice place to enjoy a quiet breakfast by the beach.

06/28/2007Thanks for the tips. I’ve been meaning to try El Gaucho, but I dunno how it’d compare to the Met, my gold standard for steak in Seattle.
