A great evening at the Black Cat

We went to the Black Cat and tried their 7 course tasting menu. For a more detailed description and pictures please view my blog at www.milehigheater.blogspot.com) The dinner ended up being 10 courses as the chef sent out 3 xtra courses and this was a blessing and a curse as it was wonderful food but at the end we were so full we could barely move! All in all this is a great place to eat and even though the tables are a bit close together the food more than makes up for that!

Molecular Gastronomy at O's

We went and had the Molecular gastronomy tasting menu offered at O’s Thursday-Sunday by Chef Ian Kleinman. And it was one heck of an experience. Not only was the food very good you get a sense of fun and anticipation with it as even though you have an printed menu in front of you telling you what will be next you can never really be sure what it is going to be. How can you guess what balsamic textures are going to be or Space foam I know that at least the three of us had no idea at all what it could be.

The food is fantastic but that can be had at many places in the area, what can’t be had is the fun this is a meal you will go away talking about for some time after and we highly suggest you give it a try sometime. The menu changes weekly but if you would like to see pictures of our meal please stop by our blog at www.milehigheater.com.

The Fort

The Fort is one of the restaurants I think about when someone asks me for a uniquely Colorado restaurant. The restaurant outside is a reproduction of Bents Fort and coming into the courtyard you can almost feel you are leaving the present behind and stepping back into the old west. Once you come inside, that illusion fades away as the smells from kitchen hit your nose and your mouth starts craving to taste what is coming out of there. The menu itself is very game heavy with buffalo, quail and many other items to tempt you.
The fort is a great place to take friends from out of town to show them a piece of the old west or just to go and enjoy for yourself. If you would like to see some pictures of the fort and the food they serve along with a full review of the meal we had feel free to visit our blog at www.milehigheater.blogspot.com

Meatapalooza

If you are hungry and just craving meat, and lots of it the Rodizio grill is the place to go. Never ending skewers are brought to your table prime rib, ham and just about everything else you can think of in between and it will keep on coming until you wave the white flag… well in this case the red cube. A little pricey but if you go away hungry here it is entirely your own fault. If you would like more information and pictures from this restaurant or others we have visited from fine dining to local Mom and Pop places stop by our blog at www.milehigheater.blogspot.com.

Harvest week at Luca

Luca D’Italia

Inventive great tasting Northern Italian food. This restaurant alongside Mizuna provides 2 of the best restaurants Denver has to offer. We visited during harvest week and had the special tasting menu and from start to finish the meal was a delight! If you would like to see pictures and much more info on the meal feel free to check out our blog at www.milehigheater.blogspot.com

Beatrice and Woodsley

Beatrice and Woodsley is a great experience from the moment you walk in. The “aspen” trees in the room and the jazz music playing just makes you forget that you are in the heart of Denver and not up in the mountains. All oft the “small” plates all looked fantastic on the menu and the Pork Belly I ordered was straight mana from heaven. Go soon and go with a lot of friends so you can get one of everything! If you would like to see pictures of the meal feel free to check out our blog at www.milehigheater.blogspot.com

Thanks!

Frasca

We had dinner at Frasca and as its chef had recently won a James Beard award we had very high expectations and for the most part it met them. The food is incredible and very well cooked and thought out and from the fried stuffed squash blossoms to the Potato Gnocci with fresh sweet corn every course just seemed to burst with flavor. The staff gives you a nice warm welcome when you come in and makes you feel welcome. The only down side of Frasca in my opinion is the closeness of the tables which are packed in very tightly and you really can’t get away from hearing everything your neighbors are talking about be it good bad or ugly. If interested in pictures and a full course by course meal description feel free to visit our blog at www.milehigheater.blogspot.com

Paulie & Deanna's

A Mom and Pop Italian restaurant that serves up some good solid Itlaian food in their dining room or for take out. We had the Stuffed Shells and the Chicken Parm while the shells were good but nothing special the Chicken Parm was very good. If interested in pictures feel free to visit our dining out blog at www.milehigheater.blogspot.com.

The D Bar

The D bar headed up by Keegan Gerhard of food network fame is a great little spot to satisfy your sweet tooth or for something a bit more filling like a pair of Kobe beef sliders. If would like to see a few pictures of the meal and a bit more information feel free to visit our blog at www.milehigheater.com

A "Hidden Gem" The Gold Hill Inn

To get to the Gold Hill Inn you have to travel up a twisting dirt road east into the mountains from Boulder but the great food and atmosphere is more than worth the drive. They serve up an always changing 6 course meal for the fantastic price of just $31.00 per person. The food is plainly presented so don’t expect fancy pretty plates but what you can expect is great food served in a rustic lodge with a fantastic atmosphere. For a much more detailed review with pictures see my blog at www.milehigheater.blogspot.com
