A Southern California staple!

Many of my adolescent nights were spent at Islands with friends. It’s a very popular restaurant among residents of the Pasadena area. It’s one of those restaurants that everyone can agree on because they serve classic all-American food in a playful atmosphere. And let me tell you, they serve up some mean fries!

Pretty good!

I went to Ruth Chris with my wife for the very first time and I was really excited since I’ve heard many good things about them. I tried the ribeye and my wife had the cowboy ribeye. It was fantastic! We also ordered the oscar appetizer which included 1 crabcake and 3 pieces of asparagus (not worth it) for $12 and my wife ordered a glass of wine. I wanted a glass of water and to my surprise they bring a bottle of sparkling water!

So so good!

I have to commend the chinese chicken salad at this place. It is definitely the star of the menu. Considering it is on Westwood, it’s quite a trek finding parking, but if you can’t find it in the first few tries, you might want to dine elsewhere. The other Chinese dishes are pretty good too, but I don’t really recommend their Pad Thai (you should go to a Thai restaurant). I’m not a huge fan of Asian fusion places.

I adore this place!

This is a great and quick Brazilian restaurant. You can order food and be served or serve yourself on the buffet. There are not too many choices from the cold items but the hot items are great, their macaroni and cheese is really good, creamy and does not taste like it came frozen or out of a box. They also have really good plantains! The meats are delicious and the chicken breast is too. I would recommend the beef that is flavored with garlic. The price seems to be ok but once you pile your food onto the plate and the cashier weighs your plate it can seem a bit pricey. However I still manage to eat it all.

They now how to blend a fruit!

Crowded? Well, duh! I mean, seriously would you expect a juice bar directly across the street from UC Berkeley (population 30,000) to be anything other than crowded?

My drinks are always great, and they have no problem with taking requests such as “blended twice”. I am especially a fan of the Strawberry Nirvana, no banana, sub extra strawberries, with a protein boost. Low calorie deliciousness that gets my day started and keeps me full til lunch time.

Loves it

This is one of my favorite places to get breakfast after a long night out! I think the majority of customers are pretty hung over and chill on Saturday mornings and the rest are families getting ready to start their day… since I have both then this is the place for me. I wish it wasn’t so packed but that’s the way it is. It’s not the quickest place for service but once you see how crowded it is then you can understand why.

I love Johnny Rockets!

nostalgic of the good old days when i was a child…when mommy would make grilled cheese sandwiches or egg salad sandwiches… mommy never made a smiley face out of ketchup though, and they do that here :) i also love their chili with cheese and onions, and for dessert, their apple pie a la mode. they have some of the crispiest, flakiest apple pie. mmmmm.

Loves it!

Pink Taco is one of those places that I just need to keep going back to! The last time I was there was a couple weeks ago with my friend Mike. He spent the whole night flirting with the waitress and ended up getting her number before we left! Haha! But whatever, I’m hitched so I was there for the food. That’s way better than getting some girl’s number!
