Desperately need to turn up the A/C!

Had lunch with a client here today. Seems like a place for a lot of business lunches. Given that there aren’t a lot of great options in Torrance, I can see the draw. So we all enjoyed the food. The shrimp sausage appetizer was a creative and tasty start. My colleague really enjoyed his curry dish, which came with shrimp, chicken, veggies and rice, so much so that he was raving about it hours later. The client had the mac and cheese and really liked that as well. Got out of there with a decent priced bill and happy tummies.

HOWEVER…it was so unbelievably hot in there! We were all sweating and somewhat uncomfortable. Considering the amount of suits in there, I am sure we weren’t the only ones. I really hope that the AC was broken or something, because if it’s like that in there every day, it is just unbearable and a good enough reason not to return. To increase the temperature, they cram a lot of tables and a lot of bodies into the space they have. Which reminded me of new york…but not in a good way.

Finally, the decor could use an update…the style is kind of victorian, but all the furnishings just look kind of run down and old.

That’s all. I recommend for business lunches or dinners. The food was tasty and the menu was creative with a lot of options for different palates. Not mind blowing at all, but serves it’s purpose fairly and reliably.

PS – great wine and beer menu!

Fantastic! Also came with little goat cheese wontons and roasted garlic. I don’t come across shrimp sausage often, so when I do, I’m glad to see it made right! There are only two in the dish, and they are not large, but they do pack a nice punch.

Blackened Mahi Mahi

…with black bean ponchos (?) and guacamole. The most expensive dish on the menu (a special that day) and probably the lowest value. The fish was good and cooked well. But it was sitting on top of a pile of black beans and melted cheese that you could get at Baja Fresh, and under a pile of guacamole that was just all right. It wasn’t visually apppealing, and I feel like they could have done a lot more with that fish.
