Pepper lunch with spotty taste
Being my first time here, I decided to order what I assume is their signature dish, the pepper beef over rice. This dish simply consists of a mound of rice surrounded by beef, and sprinkled with corn. Adding corn to a dish just cheapens the look and taste for me. Maybe that’s just me. But anyways, I also added an egg for 50cents.
Shortly after you order, the sizzling plate arrives at your table. The meat is still raw and cooking on the hot iron plate, so it’s probably advisable to wait until the meat is cooked before digging in… unless eating raw beef is your thing. Taste was only mediocre and the whole dish was just unimpressive. Service was minimal as well.
There are plenty of other better dining options in the McCarthy Ranch area.
Dishes I tried:
Pepper Beef Lunch Combination
Taste was nothing special.

Hurry Curry!!!
Man, I wouldn’t have survived college without this place. Funny enough, I never actually had the curry at this place in my 4 years of living in LA. That’s because the chicken pasta is so frickin fantastic. My stomach wouldn’t allow me to order anything else. (And on a college budget, my wallet wouldn’t allow it either.) This dish is spaghetti with cutlets of fried chicken covered with sautéed mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers, and then smothered with their special and oh-so-good white sauce. Nothing fancy but it’s creamy, it’s filling, and it’s delicious.
The place isn’t too big and space can get tight as the place fills up. There may be a short wait for a table, but don’t be discouraged. You’ll be pleasantly rewarded by what Hurry Curry has to offer.
Next time I’m in town, I’ll try and visit and taste their other fine items on the menu.

LuLu was only SoSo
This place reminded me of walking into a ski lodge with its high wood ceilings, warm cozy atmosphere, and a gigantic fireplace.
The fireplace here though was actually the oven used to roast their rotiserrie chicken, which is what I ordered since they looked delicious. The first couple of bites was what I had expected. Very flavorful, tender, and oozing with juices. However, the center was just slightly undercooked and a little pink. The desserts were not very impressive either. They had other interesting items on the menu though which I’d be willing to come back and try.
The service was nothing outstanding, but they were friendly and courteous. The overall lunch experience here was average on a pretty quiet saturday lunch hour. I’m hoping other items on the menu will excite my palate a little more and maybe the dinner scene is a little more lively.
Dishes I tried:
Rosemary Scented Chicken
Could have been excellent if it was cooked a little more. The bed of potatoes and lettuce salad it came on was zzzzzzzzzzzzz

mmm_good
12/01/2006I have to disagree with opilicious’ assessment of Pepper Lunch. As soon, as you walk into the restaurant, there is a wonderful smell of the signature dish that tantalizes not only your nose’s sense receptors but also your taste buds. This is one of the better meals that I’ve had while visiting the oh, so well known Asian restaurant complex of Milpitas. And, hey if my mother-in-law liked it, it must be good! But, I’ll write my own review about this place!
