Fantastic Hotel Breakfast & Nice Atmosphere

This is a great place to have a breakfast meeting. It’s dimly lit, and it was quiet when we went. Great omellettes and waffles. The staff was fantastic! They were accommodating in every way.

What I ate:
  • ****

I chose my own omellette with asparagus mushrooms and cheese; it was amazing. I’ve been to quite a few hotel breakfasts, and this was an exceptional breakfast. The atmosphere seems ripe for deep conversations, and it’s dimly lit (so you can go even if you have a hangover…).

  • ****

Fantastic waffle, though there’s not a lot of room for improvement over a good waffle. The berries were ripe, large and sweet.

Alfa Restaurant & Bar

Open Late & Food Is Great

We went to Alfa on a Tuesday evening at about 10:15 and it seemed pretty empty (as I would have expected for a Tuesday evening.) Yet, about 1/2 hour later the place started filling up. The drinks were great and the food was GREAT for a late night dinner. They DJ had a nice set going that did NOT include the same Electro-Lounge CD that every trendy restaurant (e.g. Buddakan, POD, etc…) play.

What I ate:
  • ****

I ordered medium, and the first one i ate was medium and VERY good. The other two must have still been cooking inside and cooling down because they ended up being well. Else, it was delicious.

  • ****

If you like heavy and creamy pasta, this is your dish. It was very good, but is surely still swimming around in my aorta.

  • ***

Very good salad. It had a very good presentation for late night fare. The tomatoes were salty.

  • *****

My wife loves the Rouge burger, but i honestly liked this burger better than that. It was awesome.

  • *****

Just as good as you get anywhere. We love Edamame.

A Constant Parade Of Delicious Meat

This is one of the best Brazilian Steakhouses. If you aren’t familiar with the concept, basically you sit down and they bring the meat to you. You get a little chip with a green side and a red side. If you flip it to green, 1 after another, men will come around with various cuts of meat and slide them on to your plate as you direct them. They also bring you endless sides of cheese bread, fried bananas, polenta and more. The salad bar is picturesque and unbelievably delicious. We go here frequently.

DO NOT fall into the temptation to eat endless baskets of these! These little bits are so delicious!

  • *****

If you are a vegetarian, you should probably stay away. There is no possible way to eat here without delicious meats passing by your face every 10 seconds. THOUGH, the salad bar is by far the best of any I’ve ever seen.

The Prime Rib

Dissapointing Prime Rib....at The Prime Rib

Very interesting atmosphere. Definitely a more conservative and older crowd. Has a cool old style “supper club” feel. Yet…what makes this restaurant so disappointing is the fact that their prime rib was not very good. It was fatty, lacked good flavor. I will not be back.

Unique Decor & Unique Cuisine

My wife and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Definitely a date restaurant. My wife had amazing fish, but we definitely advise to steer clear of the Octopus Salad. We will be back.

Osteria

May 3, 2008 Link

Great Italian In The Northern Liberties

Osteria has some of the best pizza, though more expensive than your regular takeout joint. The appetizer’s and Primi’s were fanastic, but the Secondi’s left us a little dissapointed.

The place is beautiful, with large windows. Though we had a ‘small’ run-in with our waitress who told us we could not order appetizers till we were ready to order everything. You get the sense that the chef needs to be catered to almost as much as the customers. We would definitely go back though.

What I ate:
  • **

The fish was not as fresh as it could have been.

  • *****

    Also, a delicious desert!

  • ****

Wonderfully tender pork. Topped with fresh arugula.

  • *****

    Great flavor. Crisp and delicious.

  • *

If you like Philly Cheesesteaks, then get this. The lamb was sliced like a Steve’s Prince and tasted no more like lamb then the meat you put on an Amaroso Roll.

  • *****

Fantastic gelati! We tried the pistachio, mint, and blueberry. All soo delicious!

  • ***

All their pizza is delicious. Very crisp thin crust with delicate ingredient laid on top. I loved this one more than the others we went with. It had a good saltiness to it and the cheese was delicious.

  • ****

This was the favorite of our table. Great crust, delicious sauce. All the pizza is large wedge slices. Not anywhere near enough for a group to share for a main course.

  • ***

We are used to antipasto at more family-style Italian places. Which means, we are used to more vibrant marinades of the vegetables. This antipasto seemed to be easier for the general public to swallow. A good bunch of different “salads” including yellow beets, and good arugula.

  • ****

Amazing dish. Accompanied by mushrooms and doused with just a tad too much butter.

  • ***

Grappa and a shot of espresso. I’m sure someone will think this is amazingly delicious. To me, both ingredients compounded the other’s mouth-hammering characteristic.

  • *****

The table favorite. The asparagus is wrapped in a crepe with molten cheese. Served sizzling to the table. Wonderful!

  • **

Not very exciting. Good if you want just a fair gnocchi dish.

Pine Street Pizza

Good Local Later-Night Pizza Delivery

We ordered a white pizza with broccoli and sliced tomatoes and the toppings and ingredients were good. The crust is not as much local Philadelphia thin as much as it is like Pizza Hut crust. Fast delivery, it was still pretty warm when we got it. Next time I don’t want to leave the condo late at night, I’ll order from here.

Morimoto

Expensive slice of Japanese Heaven.

We went on a Sunday evening and the place not packed whatsoever. We tried a little bit of everything to give this place a fair shake, and it was worth it. The decor was so unique, I could not stop looking around. The service was erring on the slower side once we actually ordered, but the food itself came fairly quickly. The sushi was on par with the best sushi places in Philly, though it didn’t stand above anything I’ve had to date. They have a wide selection of delicious Sake’s which I encourage anyone to try (and try it warm too!) My wife had the seabass and THAT was the best seabass we both have ever had. If you want to impress someone, this is definitely a place to go. Anyone can find a unique menu item that they will love, and the atmosphere is memorable.

What I ate:
  • ****

On par with any spicy salmon roll you can find at fantastic sushi places. It did taste notably fresher than even some other high priced sushi places.

  • ***

My wife loved this “Iron Chef Chicken Noodle Soup.” Great flavor, and certainly not to be missed if you enjoy a good bowl of noodles.

  • *****

The seabass was virtually impossible to eat with chopsticks because it was SO tender and moist. Topped with flavors that you will never forget.

  • *

Cold tempura is disgusting. So, that affected this review substantially. The Gorgonzola sauce sounded great on the menu. While the presentation was excellent, the delivery was regrettable.

  • ***

The taste was fantastic. One of the dinner guests ate a piece for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised. The actually presentation though, left something to be desired. It seemed rushed to the plate, or wood plank in this case.

  • ***

Tasted like Chinese sweet and sour chicken….except it wasn’t chicken. It would have been the best sweet and sour chicken I’ve had.

  • ****

Do not be deceived into thinking this is actually a salad. Even for it’s price, it’s only a few small pieces of lobster with a lobster ceviche on the side. We all enjoyed it thoroughly. The ceviche was delicious and felt almost creamy while not being overpowering with citrus flavor.
