I’ve only had the pulled-pork BBQ sandwich here. It is the only thing I want! I find myself unable to try anything else on the menu because it is so hearty and satisfying, layered with soft grilled onions and purple slaw. The fries here seem to be done in a Belgian style – twice fried, to get that crispy outside and steamy hot inside. They make their own ketchup here, and their own BBQ sauce (North Carolina style, so vinegary and chili-laced). Service is friendly and fast. They now have beers on tap too! I wish they stayed open later. I wish I had a pulled pork sandwich this second.

Each time I’ve eaten/guzzled at this place, it just inspires me to return and have the dish the guy next to me was eating! And everything looks good, from the big bowls of mussels and chewy sourdough chunks, to the hearty pub burger, to the piping fresh meat pie. I normally stick to the small plates, and really love the rock shrimp and scallion fritters, perfect with a few pints of the Craftsman Poppy Amber Ale. Yes, I have drank many of thee…
This is one popular gastropub! Arrive early and grab a seat and don’t let it go, because as soon as 8 and 9 PM roll around, in comes waves upon waves of voraciously thirsty customers.
