Good lunch buffet

I ate here a couple of times during a recent visit to NYC. Their lunch buffet was actually pretty good, included a decent number of vegetarian options and was very reasonable by NYC standards. The only downside is their location, ’cos they are kinda hidden.

Excellent food

The food here is excellent. I have eaten here on several occasions during recent trips to the city, and taken several co-workers here. Even the carnivores find the food absolutely delicious. One of the few restaurants that serves traditional, southern Indian vegetarian food.

So good, its illegal

I used to be a huge fan of Chipotle, but now don’t even go there anymore. I am addicted to the Big Potato burrito here. It takes a while to prepare, but boy is it worth the wait! Do yourself a favor and get yourself something illegal ;-)

Vegetarian, potato burrito that blows all others away. Eat it to believe it.

Among the better Thai places

The food is decent, no frills. Vegetarian-friendly (ask them to remove the fish sauce from the Pad Thai). Sometimes when my wife orders a dish Thai hot, they spice it down a bit. Not a sit-down type restaurant, so get your food to go.

Standard fare

Ok, so not too many people go looking for Indian food whilein Vegas, but I did :) Tamba is in a little strip mall on “The Strip” between MGM and Alladin. The food is the standard North Indian fare you get at any generic Indian restaurant across the US. Nothing fancy or special. Their lassi was pretty good, and they were actually pretty busy. But I think being busy had more to do with being the only Indian restaurant on “The Strip” than quality of food.

Dishes I tried:

Bindi (Okra)

I asked for it to be extra spicy, and it was pretty mild.

How do you screw up basmati rice? Simple. Provide a different kind of rice, call it Basmati and hope people don’t know the difference.
