HIgh End Mexican Food in South Baltimore

Usually you have to go out west to combine fine Mexican food and tequila spirits so this a great find for the Mid-Atlantic region. Especially if you are a tequila lover. Normally we just go with the house chips and salsa, but this time we splurged for the guacamole appetizer. The guacamole was above average and the chips served with the appetizer were excellent. Blue Agave is now using a El Jimador 100% agave tequila for their “standard” margaritas ($7.75) – very smooth. Or you can choose from one of the other 100+ tequilas.

Overall this restaurant might be rated as expensive, especially for a “tex-mex” restaurant, but not more than any other good area restaurant with linen and silverware.

Dishes I tried:

Enchilada Mole

Very tasty, good mole sauce. Accompanied by above average rice and beans. Brought home leftovers.

Burrito Duo

These were huge – why a duo??? One would have sufficed! Regardless, my wife loved both of what she tried and brought the rest home.

Chips and Salsa

Chips were very good, crisp. Three salsas are provided: a tasty typical “red sauce,” a green tomatillo sauce, and a roasted, spicy chipolte red-brown sauce.
