Glad I had a coupon!

I had a coupon from a website I am a member of so my son and I decided to try out this place. First of all… ITS TINY! This place hold maybe 20 people inside and another 8 outside. I think it used to be a KFC like 10 years ago if I remember correctly. It was so hot inside and it’s fall so it was chilly outside, but we opted to sit outside because it was too crowded. The food was ok, nothing special. I was a little upset that they served my son his pasta 15 minutes before I got my pizza… The service was fast otherwise and 15 minutes isn’t very long to wait for a pizza… they also came to check on us a couple of times even though we were the only people sitting outside which was nice. But overall, I am glad that I only paid $18 instead of $43… it wasn’t really worth that. Oh and our Tiramisu was still slightly frozen.

Dishes I tried:

Fettucini Alfredo w/ Chicken

Not much better than a microwave pasta. I was happy that it wasn’t too thick though. It was a pretty good sized plate of food and comes with 4 garlic knots and a small side salad.

South Pas Special - large

  •

Large Pizza with olive oil, spinach, ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and some other cheese – can’t remember. There was way too much ricotta on it… made it a bit sweet… we tried to save it with more Parmesan and pepper flakes, but I brought it home so I could save it with some other stuff.

Great little italian place with ambience!

We went to this restaurant right after some light hiking at Mt Rainier on my second day in town… oh what a joy! The place is so cute, their walls are lined with the art people have drawn on their white paper table clothes (they also supply the crayons! lol) and the place is filled with tomato memorabilia. Some of the seats are under umbrellas which is so cute. They also have a wood fire pit for making their pizzas and calzones! Service was prompt and the food was delicious. They even do catering and a kids eat free day! If you are in the area this place is a must try!

Huge slices of perfectly fresh zucchini coated in bread crumbs and italian spices. Instead of typical ranch, they are served with a cucumber dressing that is good but i also got a side of ranch too… so flavorful…

This is their small portion price. It had a very interesting sweet balsamic reduction and oil dressing… although it did fill me, it was a bit of a waste of lettuce, there was way too much lettuce… the rest of the salad was delicious though!

Tasty Food and a view!

I just arrived in Seattle and of course the first thing we did was go to the Pike Place Market. We wondered around for a bit until we decided to eat lunch. You enter the restaurant on the first floor and can either order at the front and eat on the first or third floor or you can have table service on the second floor, we opted for the table service. The seating is rather packed but we were lucky enough to get a seat right by the window which overlooked the port! Our glasses were never lacking water and the food came quickly. Other than a little heartburn from the crab cakes with the chipotle aioli the lunch was amazing!

Dishes I tried:

Dungeness Lump Crab Cakes

Comes with two cakes, the crab is so fresh tasting and aioli sauce was a perfect accompaniment plus a slice of lemon. They did come back to haunt me with their richness though and I had heartburn :-( so other than that, they were maybe the second best crab cakes I have ever had!

The best restaurant on my trip!!!

There is absolutely nothing bad I could say I about this restaurant. From standing by a fireplace in the waiting area, to being sat right away to the amazing service… I can’t recall eating anywhere finer. Yes, it is an expensive restaurant but it WELL worth the money. We were fortunate to get a seat right in the window overlooking the bay even though it was a Saturday night! A busser cam immediately and poured our water and before he was even done, the server came to get our drink orders. He came back with my wine and to our surprise brought my friend’s two girls a plate of baby carrots and ranch! We didn’t order any appetizers so it was right on to our meals. He was very informative and knowledgeable about the dishes and helped me make my decision easier! The food came quickly and was so delicious, but we saved room for desert which was those little shot glass type deserts just in a more decadent shot glass! Perfect ending to a perfect meal!

This dish is only served on Friday and Saturday nights. What a delicious meal… the meat was perfect, not too fatty, cooked just to my order -medium rare- and had fresh ground horseradish on top as well as au jous and a horse radish sauce on the side. I can’t recall having a better cut of meat. It came with “chef’s rice” which I guess that night was a ginger rice – amazing – I thought it was going to be too sweet, but it was perfect for this dish. Also came with broccolini. I would recommend this dish to anyone!

My free dinner...

We went here for dinner my first night in the Seattle area. My friend had been wanting to go here so why not! I can tell you why not… I ordered a burger and while it was sooooo delicious… it was COLD, I am not just talking cool because maybe we had a slow waitress, I am talking COLD… plus I ordered it without onions and there were onions on it… and I hate onions… then I bit into the coleslaw and there were huge chunks of red onions in it! I could not believe how horrible to experience was. I told the waitress and she comped my meal thank goodness, because there is no way you should have to pay for that! My friend ordered a salad which was supposed to come with croutons, apparently that only means one crouton, because that is all she got. The beer was delicious though. Maybe it was just an off night but that was bad!

Maybe if the hamburger was warm I would have given it a five star rating, the flavors were great. Loved the peppercorn, loved the whiskey mustard, but the burger was served COLD!

The best happy hour!

Wow, I was so impressed at Citrus City’s happy hour. There weren’t a whole lot of people there but it filled up a little as the night went on. We arrived at 6:00 pm… through 7 pm as people got off work. They had loads of room… maybe 25 seats around the bar, a long seat against the wall which is where we sat since we could all sit together but different tables for the room, some tables for two and a patio that I did not get a chance to check out. Their appetizer selection was huge and a great variety even for happy hour! All dishes were $5 a ranged from a cheeseburger and fries to tacos, calamari, chicken wings, chicken skewers, bruschetta and spring rolls… and that wasn’t all! I was shocked that there was such a variety and that they were decent sized servings. They even have wines, well drinks and several martinis for $5, beers for $3, and call drinks for $6. It was such an amazing menu I have to say that I think this is the best happy hour yet! I am not sure about the set up for the other locations but I am sure the menu is at least the same.Plus they have extended their happy hour to be 3pm to CLOSE!!!!

Filet Tacos

Tasty Thai

This is one of those little tiny places on a crowded business street. I passed by many times and wondered if it was any good. So, finally my son and I went here and it was pretty good. We sat outside which has a nice little water fountain and it was beautiful out even though the street is really crowded, somehow you don’t seem to notice all the traffic passing by. Service was very good. We ordered thai iced tea and an appetizer which came very quickly. The waitress even commented on how beautiful my eyes are (they are green) – ok maybe she was trying to get a better tip but it worked!

My son loved it, but my son and I thought it tasted like funnel cake – that is probably why he liked it. The portions were huge of chicken and rice. It also comes with a really good soup that is heavy on the garlic (I ate this since I am such a garlic lover)

I love good curry. I asked for medium spicy because I never know how spicy a place considers spicy. I think I could have gone spicier. It was very flavorful though. No fatty pieces of chicken, maybe could have used more zucchini, but not bad. Does not come with rice so you have to order a side… its not alot of rice but honestly it’s just the right amount – maybe 3/4 cups to a cup. There was alot of chicken!

Gourmet for sure!

Wow, now talk about gourmet pizza. This place is totally adorable. The decor inside makes you feel like you are outside! The pizza was amazing and they such a great selection! From vegetarian, to fully loaded meat, chicken pizzas, seafood pizzas, pizzas with peanut butter on them and desert pizzas. I don’t recomment the wings – they were pretty bland, but everything else rocked. We had the Hanger Orange Wheat beer and that was great too! There was maybe 11 of us and I wouldn’t bring groups bigger than that…

It really pops!!!

This restaurant was absolutely amazing. Fromt he ambience to the food, everything was perfect. They play light jazz and can accomodate large groups or small romantic dinners. The smaller tables are on shadow boxes of very interesting stuff. Plus it is directly across from the Union Parking structure which is very convenient. I took 11 people and we had a blast. They do add on an 18% gratuity to large groups and can only split a bill 4 ways so bring cash if it’s a large group. You really do get a good amount of food for your money. I cannot wait to go back and try their other dishes!

Mixed Feelings

Ok, so I took my son here tonight for dinner because the wait at Olive Garden was still 45 minutes at 7:30pm… and Domenico’s had NO wait. I have been to the one in Pasadena and had their pizza so I figured-why not. The best thing about the restaurant is they tag team their service. They had TWO bus boys who regularly came around and filled out glasses and took our dishes plus our server! That was really nice. Most things come with salad and garlic bread which is nice, the salad is plain… just some lettuce a small amount of cabbage, some black olives some mozzarella and the dressing… then there’s the “garlic” bread which did not taste like garlic at all… but was great to put some of the tomatoes from my pasta and for my son to sop up his alfredo sauce. But then I ate my pasta and a bite of my son’s pasta and it was AMAZING. I ordered the Spaghetti alla Checka which is a spaghetti with some fresh chopped tomatoes, whole garlic, fresh basil and a light butter sauce. It really was light and everything was really fresh, I added a bit of parmesean and red pepper flakes and it was so delicious. My son had the Alfredo Special which is Linguini with alfredo sauce, chicken and broccoli. The sauce was so light and wonderful, of course my son likes the heavier sauces, so he piled on the parmesean but I thought it was delicious just plain!!! I would go back here anytime for the service and the main course and want to see if the rest of their menu is as good as what I had tonight!
