Best Rib Eye and mashed potatoes!!
A lovely B&B out on Long Island, ME in Casco Bay. Take the ferry from Portland for $10.50 RT and spend the day at some of the most beautiful beaches ever or just biking the island(only 3X1 mile)
There are no restaurants(a general store that sells sandwiches, pizza & lobster rolls).
We stayed 2 nights at the inn but you can make a reservation for dinner(served Thursdays & Saturdays)with 2 seatings. There are a few main entree choices for a prix fixe dinner that includes soup, salad, entree and dessert. Well worth the $. They also serve wine by the glass and bottle. Very reasonable.
Dishes I tried:
Grilled Ribeye steak with herb rub
We like our steaks medium rare and this was cooked to perfection. Like butter! One of the best steaks we’ve had anywhere. Came with red mashed potatoes(skins left in) and marinated baby asparagus.
Cream of spinach soup
Delicate, light, just the right size cup of soup. No heavy cream – had the consistency of milk. Very delicious!
Caesar salad
Also light, crisp fresh romaine with fresh grated parmesan and a light dressing. No croutons or anchovies – just a perfectly prepared salad and just the right portion.
Chocolate cake
I’m not a chocolate dessert person and the other choice was blueberry cheesecake which is also not my thing but this cake was not sweet, made with dark chocolate with a creamy icing to compliment. I did eat the whole piece though.
Blueberry Cheesecake
Homemade with freshly picked blueberries. Not too sweet, very creamy with a thick graham cracker crust and blueberry sauce on top. Excellently prepared
