Chez Maman

french bistro in SF

This place has delicious and comforting French food, and the prices aren’t bad. I shared a warm goat cheese and arugula salad with my dining partner, and enjoyed a bowl of steamed mussels after. YUM! Next time I’ll try one of their warm french bread sandwiches and fries. The atmosphere is warm/cozy and it would be a great place for a date or just dinner with friends.

They were cooked in a delicious butter, parsley and lemon sauce. After finishing off the shellfish, I dipped french bread in the remaining sauces – delish!

Little Star Pizza

Little Star Pizza

Little Star has delicious deep dish pizza and surprisingly, one of the most delicious green salads I have ever had. The food is straightforward and executed very well. The atmosphere and crowd is a bit hipster-ish, but well worth it for the yummy food. Be prepared for a wait.

Crepes a Go Go

Creps a Go Go

Whenever I am in Berkeley I want to go here! There is something for everyone on the menu. If you want to keep it simple, you can have a 2 ingredient crepe (e.g ham & cheese) yet there are more exotic variations as well (with eggplant, peppers, chicken, etc..). The dessert crepes are also great – (but how hard can it be to make something taste good with Nutella on it?! :)). The ambiance is simple, you order and pay at the register and can either sit at the tables inside or take your order to go. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a quick and affordable meal.

Suppenkuche

Suppenkuche

If you are looking for a quiet dinner – this is not the place. On the otherhand, if you are looking for great hearty food and beer that is reasonably priced, and a hip (and loud) environment with shared tables – this is the place! I had the trout (in Lemon Butter Sauce with Bouillon Potatoes and Spinach), which was delicious and tried my companion’s bratwurst which was also excellent.
