Somebody had a great idea
Pizza Hotline is a well-known Winnipeg pizza delivery chain, and elsewhere. They are preferred by many for delivering cheap pizza that is of decent quality.
One outlet for Pizza Hotline was built in the heart of the Corydon Village, our own ‘Little Italy’, known for its culture and nightlife. However, instead of the austere interior of most pizza delivery chains, someone had the bright idea to turn the front into a trendy little cafe and diner. The pizza is still there, and available to order, but they also have a wide variety of extras, and numerous beverages. Coffees, wines, mixers, etc.
Beer selection is unfortunately limited; I haven’t been in a while, but last I checked they only offered Alexander Keith’s on tap.
The pizza they bring you is fresher than you could ever get delivered. They also seem to put a great deal more care into the pizza they’re serving in house than to what typically goes out for delivery. It’s also worth mentioning that you can get a large pizza with -unlimited- toppings for 15.50. Nice.
The main draw I would say is the atmosphere. Difficult to quantify, the place is kept dim and intimate. White Christmas lights and candles, large (if likely fake) plants and trees, hardwood, leather and stone walls. There are number of larger tables in little alcoves for groups, and some tables out front. The patio is also great in the summer, right on Corydon Avenue, where all the action is. Personally, I like the quiet, almost hidden tables in the back – I especially like to take my date back there, when I have one.
Staff is usually friendly and helpful, and atypically sincere, though it seems the turnover is a little on the high side, as one frequently gets newer servers who are still learning the ropes.
Dishes I tried:
Large pizza, unlimited toppings
Though not of exceptional quality, where else can one get unlimited toppings for 15 bucks?
Let me say it again: Unlimited. Toppings.
