Great Indian food. The bindi masala (okra) here has become one of my favorite all-time dishes.

Blue Duck Tavern is fantastic. It’s rustic American food done to perfection. You must check it out.

You haven’t lived until you’ve tried the lobster mac & cheese. They have a great drink menu, too, and it’s a beautiful space.

All of the restaurants in this group are excellent. Artie’s in Fairfax and Sweetwater Tavern in Centreville really stand out for me, mainly because Sweetwater brews its own fantastic beers.

One of the best in the D.C. area. That Chinese-style smoked lobster with the crispy fried spinach is unforgettable.

Probably the greatest diner in the history of diners. It’s open 24/7/365, and every item on its large menu is available at all times. Great food in generous portions.

Sadly, this restaurant is no more. It was an excellent meat-and-two-sides place that claimed to have the “world’s best pecan pie.” The same people dined there for generation after generation.

One of my all-time favorites. Costa Rican-style rotisserie chicken that’s falling-off-the-bone tender, served with down-home sides like collard greens, pinto beans, mac & cheese, okra & stewed tomatoes — as well as the more typical black beans & rice.
