Amazing Authentic The Hooters of the Yucatan

The fish here is red snapper for sure! The menu is hit your neighbors huge as well as all of the dishes. The platters of fresh fish are more than anyone could finish. The service can be slow and the place can be noisy. I have been going back every summer. A word of advice the $9.00 pitcher of margaritas will need an extra shot or two, and the must have item is the whole red snapper—deep fried…..tastes like chicken! This place is filled with families at all hours of the night. Get ready for some good mariscos!

killer breaded steak

The steak is breaded and deep fried (a total splurge to be kept to a minimum) then slathered in red gravy with cheese and hot peppers. So yummy but you’ll need to head to the showers and later the gym.

Pizza-Ria

N.Y. cuts

The manhattan pizza totally rocks !!! Chicken, ricotta cheese, and broccoli very fresh. The salads here not so great the chicken is cold the portions are small. The marg. pizza is also not so great the so called “fresh” mozz is more like rubber, not good at all and where is the basil? They do a great New York cut and the pizzas are huge.

What I ate:

Great pizza and toppings are different and fresh. They do need to find a less processed chicken.

Hot Dog Fried Rice!

They claim that hot dog fried rice is the most requested dish, I could not bring myself to try it. I do give a thumbs up to the eggrolls the skin is thin and completely cooked, hard to find. The delivery was so fast and the large selection of dinner specials at $7.95 includes fried rice and soup. Overall very good, no msg and totally economical.

The Buffet at The Palms

Feb 14, 2007 Link

Less than 1 star

This is the most offensive buffet I have ever had. Think old stuffed grape leaves and water-logged fish. The salad bar is all iceberg and the salad toppers were garbanzos. I learned one thing about the Vegas buffet….look before you buy. This buffet is mostly middle eastern dishes, I have been spoiled by the awsome mid-east food available here in Chicago. One tip if you do eat here—-try not to look up at the garf and dust looming overhead. I think the Maloof brothers need to give this place a good scrub down.

Cafe Iberico

Always a good choice

I’ve been here too many times to count! I love the croquettes and the chix salad is huge for $5. I have also ordered a chix empanada to go. For $11 it’s a great alternative to pizza and feeds 3-4 people. Lunch, dinner, late night this is a great choice. the cons are: can be crowded and VERY noisy, and they really mess up traffic on LaSalle street, oh yeah beware of wearing white and drinking a lot of red sangria!

Too much MSG

I usually do Yang’s for delivery but I thought I’d give this place a try. The pork and string bean is good but not as good as Yang’s. The prices are a little high. The location on south Halsted looks cute and I may try it again and order something else. The dishes I had gave me total MSG coma.

This dish was good but way too much batter think chicken in a donut, with MSG sauce.

Hamburger Mary's

Love this place

This place is a hike up to Andersonville but well worth it! In the summer they have a few sidewalk tables great for people watching. Any burger on the menu is a must, I never order a burger but heard it was a must have. They have a fun drink menu as well I had a Stoli bluberri and lemonaide. You will never leave hungry and the check comes to your table in a high heel, great place with a fun vibe. reasonably priced can’t wait to go back.

One of the best

This place is one of the best in the city! I have been 10+ times and have never been disappointed. The prix fix menu is always a good choice and at $35 a good deal for and app, entree, and dessert. I always try a fish that I’ve never heard of ( flown in daily) the staff and service always great. My only suggestion would be to add a few new dessert selections. The Hawaiian martini (pineapple infused with vanilla vodka) great but beware they are strong! I would have tipped 20% had I paid.

What the....

I was so excited to hear about this place opening, I have been there for drinks and dinner. What is going on here…does the staff even know? Looks like they put a lot of $$ in this place, no one is ever there. The wine shop is hidden in the back and the dining area looks like a cafeteria, they have added neon beer signs to the front windows, not so classy. The staff is not trained and not friendly the wine pour is small. A wine bar/gormet grocery it is not! The dessert selection is awful a bunch of old cookies in the case! THey need to get it together it reminds me of the Savoy at the Essex inn—a total joke
