Everett & Jones Barbeque

Not as good as Texas
The owners of the restaurant are sisters. And I know the son of one of the owners. I love good BBQ, but this restaurant is a bit overrated. The food’s not bad, but it’s not as good as Texas.

Average Indian Food
I’m not the biggest Indian food fan. The dishes are very tasty, and the owner and servers are very friendly. Very small portions of meat with the dishes, however. Otherwise, for the price, the food is reasonable.

No exaggeration. This place has the best burgers I have ever tasted. The meat must be some mixture of sirloin, because it is the perfect ground steak burger. Bar None. Better than Val’s in Castro Valley. Certainly better than In-N-Out. Most people come here for the beer since it’s a Brewery, but a trip to the city is worth it for the burgers and their garlic fries.

Meat Heaven
Quite pricey for dinner. Much more reasonable for lunch, but this is quite possibly the best all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ Buffet in town. They have a variety of meats including Korean short ribs (galbi), chicken, pork, beef. You probably want to eat a light lunch, and be prepared smell like bbq for the rest of the evening. Definitely worth the visit on special occasions!

The portions are extremely generous, and for the price, the slices of sushi are huge. The tempura, beef teriyaki and sukiyaki are all excellent. Rolled sushis from Ray’s Roll to the Oakland A’s roll are delicious. If you want top notch sushi, you still should look elsewhere. However, believe it or not, this Hayward restaurant brings large portions of above-average sushi and japanese entrees for a reasonable price.

If you are interested in rolled sushi, this place is pretty good. But do not go here for the real sushi. I’ve been here on multiple occasions and the wait during peak hours can be easliy 30-45 minutes. I was quite disappointed with their nigiri sushi, and their sashimi was utterly terrible. Will only go if in the area or if invited by friends.
Blackhawk Pizzeria

Best New York Thin Crust Pizza
I discovered this pizza place in Blackhawk Plaza about 4 months ago. This place is DA BOMB! They have been in business for 20 years, and the family who owns the restaurant is originally from Brooklyn, NY. This is easily the best thin crust pizza I’ve had in Northern California. The Sicilian thick crust pizza is good but not as good, so stick with the thin crust. And ask for crushed garlic on the pizza. The calzones are spectacular, and ask for added pesto.

Just had an “ALL MEAT SUPER BURRITO” with guacamole for about 6 dollars. Quality of meat was excellent for the price, and no vegetables or beans or rice. It was pure heaven, but I was rebuked by a friend that because of my high cholesterol, my consumption of “ALL MEAT SUPER BURRITOS” should be kept to a minimum.
