"variety is the spice of life, what else?"

sadly despite my tagline and name I do tend to eat the same things at restaurants I love – help me branch out – tell me what’s good!

Blenz Coffee

it's a coffee shop. the coffee is fine but...

it’s a coffee shop. the coffee is fine but nothing spectacular and the baked goods are the usual thing you would expect. so if you want a quick cup of coffee and don’t want to look around it’s fine but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there. service has always been good – I end up there a fair bit in my travels downtown and in meeting clients.c

Villages Pizza

unfriendly surly staff

I have always liked Villages pizza but the staff is so darn unfriendly at the Oak Bay location that I am never going back – and I tend to recommend to friends and family to stay away too.

Beta Street Cafe

quick and tasty!

This is down the road from where I work. Service is quick, friendly and easy – it’s counter service, and you can get your lunch in 5 or 10 minutes usually. The selection is really good and there’s always a special and a yummy daily soup – their soups are awesome! and the baked goods are all done in-house. cookies and cinnamon buns that are sinful – buttter and sugar and love…mmmm….

Floyd's Diner

Jun 6, 2008 Link

great food, fun place, great social conscience!

I love the food here – the Berlin Wall omlette is bar none my favourite breakfast ever. Except the Beta Griddle maybe (different restaurant).
The servers are fun and energetic, definitely try the Mahoney, it’s an experience :)
The restaurant also hires a lot of special needs people which is refreshing to see – not something I see a lot of retail and restaurant type places doing.
overall top notch diner – try it!

Pagliacci's

great food always

the food is always great here – I have had hit and miss experiences with kids, there’s a host there (man) who isn’t too friendly to kids but i have always found the servers to be great with my kids.
and the food – so good! italian, lots of variety, lots of food, and great salads, and the cheesecake, mmm…oh and the cappezio (it’s a drink) – tastes kind of like a creamsicle, it’s sooooo good!

The Reef Restaurant

so yummy - plantain chips!!

plantain chips, jerk mayo, kingston quesadilla, kola champagne…this place has exotic variety in drinks and food, and is so good I keep going back for more, more more, and I keep bringing my friends!
service is great too. the bartender and the waitress are always the same when I am there and they know what they are doing. I’ve never waited too long and I’ve been there with and without kids and it’s great.

Baan Thai Restaurant

great food, casual dining experience, overall awesome

I love, love, love the food here. recommend going with a group so you can try more dishes!
it’s casual, but I have always found the service to be great, especially considering how busy they are.
try the green curry whenever it’s on special; red curry is always good, and the phad thai is the best I have had in Victoria. my husband loves hot and spicy and they really know how to do spicy, but i like it more mild, and they do great mild that still has lots of flavour.
yum!

so awesome – best in Victoria!

yummy yummy appetizer! little pastry cups and pork, cilantro and some great spices – don’t know what they are. plum sauce to go with it, it’s hard to share unless you know more food is coming!
