Mellow Mushroom

Jul 3, 2008 Link

Great if you like to eat flies, and wait 1+ hour for them

The hummus here is great. The service is terrible. The first time we went, we waited over 2 hours for our pizza. The very stressed out waitress informed us that the owner had them making 100 pizzas to donate to a local private school, on a Friday night no less! They weren’t allowed to make pizzas for the actual customers until the freebies were completed.

We foolishly went back after that, thinking it was an isolated incident. The second time, they forgot our order. Just left us sitting there for an hour with no appetizer and no drink refills.

Ok, so we’re dummies. The service never ever improved, so we stopped going. But Monday night I was craving pizza BAD, so we thought we’d give them another try. The hummus was out in just a few minutes, and we got plenty of drink refills. When the pizza arrived in less than 30 minutes, we were thrilled – until we saw the fly walking right around on our pizza. It’s not like the pizza sat there for 10 minutes, got half-eaten, and then a fly landed on it. It came with the fly. So the waitress said, “I’ll have them make another for you.” The manager came over and said, “Fly – ewww. Please don’t be upset. We’re already making another.” Ok, I was unhappy, but you know, stuff happens. Then the owner comes out and says, “What was wrong with that pizza? Just a fly?” The bottom line is, he says to us that they don’t want to remake the food. He’s actually expecting us to pay for this pizza that we never got to eat, and he doesn’t want to remake it. We remind him that his establishment has flies, and oh by the way, where are his fly traps because we don’t see any. He says that he shouldn’t have to make everything twice just because the customer is picky. We insist, then wait another half hour. When the pizza finally arrives, it has literally no toppings. No cheese. Three pieces of tempeh (which we added for a cost of $3. Yep, that’s $1 per one-inch square chunk.) Literally crust and sauce, with just enough toppings on it to make me mad.

Now that I think about it, I wonder what it DID have on it…

The last few times we have been there, the dining room has been empty. Now I think I know why.

What I ate:

Very tasty – if you can get it without the extra toppings of fly.
