L'OEUF DU COQ
My friend and I were looking for a late breakfast and went to discover this place located on the intersection of St-Zotique and St-Andre.
The place is nothing fancy, it looks small but they have a bigger area in the back.
My friend’ ordered L’Intrigante. An omelette with pesto, dried tomatoes and goat’s cheese, but she requested the waiter to replace the cheese with cheddar and also to serve it on a Crêpe. About $11 for all.
I ordered La Mascarpomme, which is a Crêpe, filled with warm sliced apple and mascarpone cheese. It was really good, the apple was perfect, not overcooked and the taste was very nice, not too sure about the mascarpone cheese, it felt more like a thick and creamy sauce, but overall was good. This for less than $10.
Both dishes had a small portion of fruit and included coffee. (we never had to ask for refill!). I really think the service was great. As soon as we walked-in we were greeted by the staff and got our menu’s shortly after we sat down. Our waiter was very helpful and brought our orders almost immediately.
The only but’s are: The menu was only in french and the restaurant does not accept credit cards/debit cards. Just cash!.

A STORE ON TOP & RESTAURANT DOWNSTAIRS
I have to admit that this little restaurant has many things to offer. Not only can you eat in there but you can also do some shopping..they sell many latin products, sweets and more.
The TORTAS (mexican sandwiches) are very well served and delicious. Something you don’t get everywhere.
On a cold day, I enjoy their CAFE con LECHE, The smell of the boiling hot milk and coffee is great. And if I have a craving of sugar, I go there and buy GLORIAS..a very rich and sweet soft caramel made with goat’s milk and mixed with nuts, so yummy!
My friend hired their catering services and rented the restaurant once. It was a success, everyone loved the food.
There is one thing though, the place is tiny, so wouldn’t recommend it for a group of more than 10-15.

Upscale dinner at an affordable price!
I was invited for dinner with a group of friends at this cozy restaurant and have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The decor makes you feet it’s warmth with discreet elegance and the service was very courteous and attentive to our needs.
Diverse menu and nice list of wines. Prices are affordable and the dishes are prepared with seasonal products, so you could enjoy the freshness and taste the ingredients.
I had the milk-fed calf liver and it was superb, it almost melted in my mouth. It was amazing!
Desserts are also delightful, hmmm, just the right amount of sugar.
Food presentation is emphasized and the portions are fair.
For less than $30 you could have the Table d’hôte for lunch. It includes an appetizer, main dish and dessert.
A party of 6 or more could choose between the 2 group menus ( $40 or $50 ).
II strongly recommend to make reservations. Enjoy!

Tasty and inexpensive Indian food
I go to this restaurant very frequently and I never get tired of the food. It is very tasty and the prices are unbelievable low. The decor is very modest and the service is not the best but still ok.
Always full at dinner time and sometimes a long line up can be seen, so you better arrive early or get ready to wait (unless you dont mind sharing the table with someone else).
The non-vegetarian THALI (a full meal) is served with basmati rice, butter chicken, curry, green salad and naan bread. All for just $7.
I like to order CHAANA BHATURA, which is garbanzo beans cooked with onions in a tomato sauce accompanied of 2 pieces of fried bread. Hmm.
Have tried several things on the menu:
- EGGPLANT BHARTHA is delicious!.
-SHRIMP BRIYANI is also good and huge.
Be aware this 2 could be very HOT but you can always ask for MILD.
If you still have room for dessert, try the RASMALAI, a milky dessert that has a similar texture to cheese. It is really different and You won’t regret it. This is one of the few restaurant that sells it.

Original and exotic dishes
I have to say that this is one of my favourites places not only because I love their original desserts and the exotic food but mostly because of it’s warm and friendly service.
The restaurant is small, the atmosphere is relaxed and the decor makes me feel on an island. It is definetly a culinary trip to Reunion Island, a nice way to escape from the cold winter days in Montreal (at least for a few hours).
Service is amazing! we never have to ask for more water , bread or butter. You can BYOW and for about $35-$38 you can have the Tasting Menu that includes an Appetizer, Main dish, Dessert and Tea or Coffee.
If you are a chocolate lover, you’ll enjoy the Piton des Neiges, a chocolate cake with a rich chocolate sauce, nothing but the best!!
I do recommend to make reservations.

Slow Turkish food
One day we were passing by this restaurant and I saw a woman through the window, that was rolling dough and making some kind of traditional bread, so she cought my attention and we wanted to try what she was making.
Once we were seated, we waited for the menu for more than just couple minutes, then I decided to ask the waitress what was the woman making and how to eat it, so we ended up ordering the GOZLEME with feta cheese and spinach and an order of MANTI.
The wait time was very long, which I understood as the bread is hand made on the spot and the place was almost full. Finally the orders came and we were able to taste it. I was not disappointed but wish It didnt take that long.
I do like the food and taste of it, but the service and wait time are keeping me away.
Dishes I tried:
GOZLEME
The LAVASH bread was very good, I liked the combination of feta and spinach.
I dont know why they call it bread, if it’s so thin, it looked like a huge flour quesadilla. It is served with a side salad.
MANTI
Those are little meat dumplings served in a bowl soaked in a sort of sour cream or yogurth. I loved them. They were amazing!

EATING IN THE DARK...an experience like no other!
We had no idea on what to expect as none of us had ever been in such a place.
Once we arrived, we were explained the rules:
-No lights allowed (they have lockers/locks if you need to put away your cell, cameras).
-You should not stand up without informing the waiter (to prevent any accidents) and you must wait for him to lead you to where you need to go…either the bathroom, the exit, etc.
At the entrance, you need to order what you’d like to eat, the menu has a few dishes to choose from (vegan friendly) and if you cannot decide, you can order the Surprise Menu.
After the orders were placed, our waiter came out and was introduced to us , then we had to make a line and hold at each others shoulders, so he could lead us across the dark dining room to our tables and chairs.
Once seated, we had to feel the plates, cutlery and all.
My filet mignon was already cut in pieces, so all I needed to do was to use my fork and enjoy.
It was really a great experience and the taste of the food was even better. I wish I could have gone on a Saturday, when they have a band of musicians and a singer.
The best part is that some of the profits are given to support the visually impaired!
Dishes I tried:
Portobello Mushroom with olive oil and lime
Filet Mignon with Asparagus
The sauce was great, the filet so tender and i could even cut it with the fork. Those asparagus were perfectly cooked.

Don't search for parking, use their Valet service!
There are not many free parking spots, so I ended up using the Valet parking, and it was perfect..you pay as much as you want, just need to tip the Valet.
The place was nice, the food really tasty but the service not the best. Either there was a language barrier or the waiter was not so helpful when we asked what were the best dishes, he always pointed to the menu and couldn’t recommend anything. Maybe he didnt want to take any risks :)
Dishes I tried:
Tum Yum Kha
When I saw the soup had coconut milk, I thought I’d get a thicker soup but it was as runny as chicken soup. Even the texture was not to my like, the taste was good, you could enjoy the flavors on it.
Tauhu Prad Param
Tofu covered with a peanut sauce, sprinkled with cashews and accompanied with fried spinach.
The taste is rich and a bit too sweet for my taste , still I can say it was really good.
Khao Horm
I loved the steamed rice and the cute presentation.

The Sangria was very refreshing!
The restaurant is well located, accessible by public transportation, the decor is fair and the the service was good but we were not impressed or could say that we’ll go back.
I was looking for a gluten-free restaurant and found this but once I arrived, I found out the only gluten-free thing on the menu was the Specialty, which is served with a soup of the day or salad and french fries.
I am willing to give it a 2nd chance, just so that I can have a glass of sangria again but Im sure I won’t order their specialty then.
If you want a place where you can eat and stay for hours, this is perfect for it.
Dishes I tried:
Cream of vegetables
The texture of it was nice and very colorful, the taste was ok, nothing great.
Steak and Fries
As per reviews from other sites, I was really expecting to taste an incredible sauce but it never happened :(
The beef was very tender and juicy however, the hallucinating sauce was nothing that just green water that evaporated from the plate after a few minutes.
I have to admit that the fries were burning hot band not oily at all. They were great!
Sangria
It was refreshing, with lots of fruit in it..I would say too much ice but it still was good.

Interest concept
I recently went to this vegetarian/vegan restaurant and was pleasantly surprised with the relaxed atmosphere and exotic combination of flavors.
Their concept is really interesting, everything they made, serve and sell has natural ingredients. What I thought it was plain water, tasted like flowers, I even found fthem on my plate.
The menu changes daily and it includes the main dish, a drink and dessert.
The service is great, however the seating is not so comfortable as the place is somewhat small. Not for big groups!!
One thing that I found a bit odd was the huge dog they have. At first it was under our table, then decided to go relax somewhere else, that made me feel as if I was eating at a friend’s house.
In case you want to check their website go to: www.epiceriefleur.com
Dishes I tried:
Polenta pie n salad
This was a sort of pâté chinois…one layer of polenta, the other one with eggs accompanied with a salad that amazed me…it had no dressing but the taste was incredible and blended really good with the cheese on top.
I just wish their portions were bigger.
Lavender coffee
The coffee was too strong to be able to detect the subtle lavender taste.
I think next time I will try their apple chai tea as it smelled so good.
Cranberry-cinnamon roll
It was delicious!
Who doesn’t like freshly baked goodies?
