New ice cream and yogurt shop

I’ve had the ice cream there twice. Its excellent. Its every bit as good as Baskin-Robbins and for we local resdients we don’t have to drive to Riverbank to get it. It does not have the selection Baskin-Robins has. There are only about 12 flavors.

They also serve frozen yogurt and sandwiches. I’ll have to try those next but as far as the ice cream goes you’re not going to do a whole lot better.

Dishes I tried:

ice cream

The ice cream was very creamy and full of flavor.

Hukla Grill in Escalon

Its easy to spot this place. Its right on the highway and has an outdoor covered eating area with lots of tropical looking plants.

The menu features burgers of every kind and shape along with a personal favorite of mine….sweet potato fries.

The decor inside is sport themed with every California team in existence highlighted….even the Dodgers which personally dampened my appetite.

The last time I went they were having a summer Friday night car show in the parking lot. There were 40-50 vintage cars on display.

Dishes I tried:

Teriyaki chicken sandwich

I had the grilled chicken sandwich on a fresh french roll. Chicken is grilled in teriyaki sauce and served with lthe usual condiments plus a pineapple slice. Its both healthful and tasty.

Of course any healthy benefits from the sandwich were erased when I ordered the sweet potato fries. I guess they have an edge over french fries because the sweet potato fries are a good source of beta-carotene.

My wife had a double cheeseburger. Its extremely large. My guess is at least 8 ounces of beef and maybe 12. It was thick, juicy and tasty.

Excellent dog stand

This place started as a cart outside a downtown insurance office but has moved to a location right on the highway 120.

They serve a variety of dogs, the most famous and best being their polish dog which in reality is a Lockeford sausage. Anyone local to northern california knows what a lockeforsd sauasage is.

They have outdoor eating and they serve 99 cent ice cream, whic I personally didn’t think was too good.

Dishes I tried:

Polish sausage sandwich

You can’t beat this polish. It is not s classical polish. It is about half a pound, grilled to perfection and spiced perfectly. They wil put whatever condiments you want on it. The skin crunches when you bite in to it and it has a unique flavor all its own. If you like the Costco polish you’ll like this one better. Its about the same size and though more expensive, is certainly better quality.

They also have regular dogs, hot links and sandwiches. I’ve never bothered with those because the polish is the best thing going in sausagedom.

I had the ice cream too but it just wasn’t very good.
