All About Wraps Delicatessan
Aug 20, 2008
Its new, unique, needed, and delicious!
I am a Gainesville resident and like the majority of us have been waiting for a new place to eat. When I say new, I mean no franchise and something unique! My wife and I heard about a new deli in Haymarket from our neighbors and my first reaction was like great another deli! Well this new deli we found out was open where the old post office was in Haymarket. From what people said about the old post office it was dark and small. When we drove up to the deli it had some outside seating and picnic tables with umbrellas on a grassy area which a couple had their dog out there with them which was great to see. When I walked inside I was so pleasantly surprised how nice it was decorated with pictures of golf courses, funny quotes, and above all, they had the coolest games scattered around the deli. Games included connect four, etcha sketch, and perfection. My wife and I felt like a kid again playing this nostalgic game. Ok, lets talk about the menu…..they have everything and I mean everything for such a small deli. They have wings, pasta, soups, quesadillas, kids meals, sweet treats, and of course wraps. When I mention wraps, I am talking about a wall of wraps….with names like the nutty thai, the steelers,
the al capone, and my favorite name the road rage…a breakfast wrap with chorizo! My wife and I was overwhelmed how many different variety of wraps they had and how fresh they were made. The wraps are made to order and if you do not want it in their standard flour tortilla, you can make it into a salad or put the ingrediants in 4-5 different types of bread…yes they really aim to please. My wife got the super veggie and I tried the chopstick in the wrap. The wraps come with chips and home made coleslaw and I hope you bring your appetite because the wraps were HUGE! The super veggie looked like a minature baseball bat and my chopstick was thick as a rolled up newspaper. The best part, it tasted as good as it looked! My chopstick tasted exactly like an oriental chicken salad with so much flavor and the freshness was a pleasant surprise. The sesame seed dressing was awesome! The super veggie had every ingrediant you can think of and she even was able to add mango to it which sweetened the wrap up…YUM! The staff was very nice and greeted us the moment we walked in. They asked us if it was our first time there and went over the menu and specials with us. I can’t recommend this place enough because it has been a long time since my wife and I ate at a place and enjoyed everything about it…food, atmosphere, staff, and money well spent. The only draw back I would say about the place was that it had no real seating inside but one picnic table. The deli had stools for counter top seating so big families might be discourage from eating there. None the less, I recommend this deli…4 stars, five if the seating was better….ENJOY!
