Bosnian, yugoslav food

Food from this region is very hard to find in Los Angeles.

Burek, a type of cheese (or meet, etc) pie with thick dough is great to fun to eat in Serbia. It’s very difficult to prepare at home and can typically be purchased in bakeries.
The version that’s available here is inferior, shaped like a spiral, and overpriced but it’s probably the only place where you can find it at any time.

Pljleskavica (large serbian beef/pork patty) was good and has the correct taste. Served with bread rolls.

Liquid yogurt, a favorite drink is available

Waitstaff is often Bulgarian but they can communicate in Serbian.

There is also a variety of chocolates, candy, and imported deli items.

Dishes I tried:

Cypress Park IHOP

It’s a typical IHOP that’s open 24 hours; can be quite crowded at prime time due to lack of competition. Closest Denny’s for people who venture into these kinds of places is in Glendale.

The crepes have actually improved over time. Crepes are mostly what I eat at IHOP if I allow someone to drag me there.

Small chain serving Mexican street food and more

There is a few of these in the areas and while they are not the best you can find, they can certainly be much more authentic than usual esp if you live close by.

Clientele is mostly Mexican and hispanic. There is a security guard on premises if anyone feels unsafe in Cypress Park.

Quantity deals on Tacos in a scary setting

This is the famous home of the porn burrito (search the net for details).

There are potato tacos which are a little addictive probably because of the fat. 10 of them with quacamole are about $5.

It’s not the cleanest or best smelling restaurant but for the full ghetto experience I recommend playing the arcade games and eating there.

Hollywood pizza with bright colors

ORANGE WALLS!! Someone had a lot of fun with the design.

I went with a friend and sat at the bar. Most seats were empty. The waitress or bar tend was not too excited about answering questions…

Pizza has some typical modern california toppings and is of average quality.

Food not the best, good for night life only

I had a filet mignon which I really should have sent back. Actually I should have ordered something completely different after getting it. Probably the safest here are the appetizers. It was the 50% off on Monday. Maybe that’s the reason.

Macaroni and cheese had a soft cheese sauce and no crust from baking.

Small chain of seafood restaurants.

The place is tiny and cramped but that’s the appeal of an authentic Hispanic restaurant during a hot summer. :-)It is in a very Hispanic neighborhood.

Ceviche and typical mexican dishes are available.

Beer margueritas and food are ok. It’s across from Super-A market and many patrons may have walked from nearby areas. Someone said that the neighborhood reminds him of his home in Mexico.

Eastern European Restaurant. Yes!!!

Has Schnitzels. Yes!!!

Unfortunately also has what looks like canned vegetables.

Hilarious Polish couple runs it. The place is even more hilarious. Go just for the interior design :-)

It’s geared towards people who like heavy, meaty East. European dishes like goulash.

Usually a small passable soup and likewise passable salad are served.

Better than Starbucks across the street

This is an independent coffee shop. There is a small area with toys and books for children.

Net access is available.

Outside area has steel tables and chairs. Inside are the plush couches and more tables.

Parking is not the greatest on the busy corner of Colorado and Eagle Rock.

Thai Delivery to the hills

This may not be the greatest Thai restaurant in town but it delivers to Mount Washington from Eagle Rock which is a rare find.

It has the slightly burned rad na noodles which are addictive,

Typical thai soups and iced teas are available.

Fried rice esp the crab fried rice is good.

The deserts with mango (in season) are available now (see date of review), which is a little earlier than usual.

Dishes I tried:

crepes with peaches

The crepe was made before; for some reason I assumed it’d be freshly made.
