Not as good as it once was....
I recently dined at the Pirate’s House with a business colleague. I must say I was disappointed. I had the She Crab soup and the Crab Cakes. The soup had to be sent back the kitchen to be warmed up. It was really cold. When it came back, it was in a different container and looked like a much smaller portion, although I am sure it must have been the same amount.
The crab cakes were just so-so. I expected so much more when I saw them. They were generous scoops of crabmeat, but lacked any zest. They were just bland. The remoulade with which they were served micht have added to them if there had been more of it.
My companion had the LowCountry Spring Rolls. He said they were okay, nothing to brag about. He enjoyed his soup after it was warmed up.
I was disappointed. This was once one of my favorite sure bets in Savannah.
One of the most annoying things about it was the female “pirate”. She kept coming around and bothering us, even suggesting that we buy her dinner. I could have done without that. The last time I was there, they had a Johnny Depp look and sound-alike who was delightful.
Dishes Tried:
Crab Cakes
Ho hum. No zip at all. Very generous portions, but lacking in flavor and presentation. The remoulade might have made it zippier, but there was so little of if that I couldn’t tell.
