Aiberto's Mexican Food
Aiberto’s Mexican Food has excellent “fast food.” It’s a lot more than the “taco shop” it mentions on its sign! I’ve tried the chicken tacos (fantastic!), beef tortas, cheese enchiladas, beans, rice, guacamole and chips – all excellent – and I’ve barely scratched the surface of the extensive menu. The restaurant is under new ownership/management, and the menu has expanded to include spicy shrimp burritos, sopes, sincronizadas and tacos de papas (mashed potato tacos). The restaurant is clean, the food is good, the prices are reasonable, and the people are always very pleasant. And the wonderful aroma from the parking lot when carne asada is on the grill has to be experienced! Whether you dine-in or
drive-thru, I recommend it very highly. The location is convenient, on Market St. in Salem, just west of Lancaster and across the stree from Fred Meyer. Look for the festive yellow and red brick building!
Dishes Tried:
Chicken Tacos
Very tasty! The chicken is grilled tender and spiced lightly but nicely, and tastes like it could easily go in a restaurant fajita.Topped with lettuce and shredded cheese, with your choice of green or red salsa, each taco is stuffed generously.
Tacos de Papas
Mashed potatoes in a deep-fried taco shell, topped with lettuce, cheese and pico de gallo. It’s hard to describe unless you taste it yourself, but the tangy pico de gallo is the perfect complement to the smooth, seasoned mashed potatoes. Very different, and very good!
