Beat In Colorado in my male Italian opinion!

Best food around.
If service was better , you would be standing in line.
Every meal is prepared when ordered so it takes time so allow for this.
Hours vary so call them for hours.
only negative is no liquor.

Amadeo's is working hard to come back strong.

To comment on a review below, Amadeo’s did not sell out to corporate interest. They had rented their previous location on 44th, and the owners of the little shack decided to sell out for big money, leaving Amadeo’s out on the street. They tried to open another location before their current on on Kipling, which sadly was kind of a greasy spoon and not at all like the Amadeo’s I grew up loving. Their new location just north of I-70 on Kipling is great! The food tastes just like it always did for years and years on 44th. I recommend the homemade spaghetti with sausage, and the cannolis are excellent as well. Go for the house salad, it has a plethora of great toppings and a nice house italian dressing, but hey I like anywhere that puts gorgonzola and beets on their salad. The garlic bread is to die for, and if you’re up for it, try the garlic cheese bread appetizer. Amadeo’s is back, and just as good as they used to be. Another plus is the new restaurant is larger and easier to get a table, and they have better hours! Check it out, you will not be disappointed.

Amadeo's is at a new location

You will drive around all night trying to find Amadeo’s at the address listed on 44th Avenue. Even though they had been there for years, they sold out to corporate interests in 2006 and condos went up at that location.

Out of the business for two years, Amadeo’s finally found a new location in 2008 and recently opened up in a Wheat Ridge shopping center just north of I-70 and Kipling, right behind the Furr’s Cafeteria. I dined there recently and pretty much liked what I found.

The restaurant itself is pretty barren and stark and the lighting is too strong. They need to do a little interior decorating which would include lower lights, a better arrangement of tables and a little more on the walls. They might want to include a dress code for staff as well. The place has a lot of potential, but it is not firing on all cylinders right now.

The food was good, but not much different from what is already available in the area. The prices were better than some, but not as good as others. The sauce has a nice flavor, the staff seem to understand vegetarians, and the dining experience was as nice as I have had in recent weeks. I would definitely go back, but, considering their location and the plain Jane location, they will have to work hard to stay in business.

I am pleased to report that they were doing a plentiful business the Thursday night we visited and seem to be catching on with locals, but I have to wonder if that alone will be enough

Stuffed Eggplant Special

The specials are $15.00 because they are items not usually on the menu. There are better, less-expensive choices on the menu including Eggplant Parmesan for $12.00.

This special was more “stuffed” than “eggplant”, but it did come with the customary pasta side. The sauce was vegetarian and good. Yet, even with a nice dinner salad, the $15.00 price tag seemed a bit high, especially for a “special”.

Cheese Ravioli Special

The ravilois were prepared to perfection. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the ricotta cheese tasted nice. I also liked the sauce. My only complaint on this dish was, again, the price. Even with the nice salad, there was nothing about the ambience of the restaurant or the quality of the food to warrant the $15.00 price tag. In the future, I will order from the menu and stay away from the specials.

Amadeo's Ice Tea

This tea is very nice. It has a minty, cinnamon, kind of clove flavor that is unique. It is so good, it does not even need sugar. This restaurant has no liquor license, and, if you can’t have wine, you might as well go for the free refills on the tea.
