One of the icons of Vermont has a shop right smack in the middle of Church Street. It attracts people like a magnet. We got there just before it got super crowded. There was a lineup but it moved.

If you have a hard time making up your mind (as I did), the staff are pleased to offer a tiny spoonful to sample. Instead of a size, I was asked “how many scoops” to order, and discovered that one scoop (technically the kid’s size) was just enough.

Once we had our cones and found a seat, there was a much larger lineup. Kids took this opportunity to scream at the top of their lungs — and dangerously close to my ears. I could not get out of there fast enough. so the moral of the story is: Go early!
