I liked the use of Blue Corn, and the two sides at dinner, but, for $10.95 at dinner, these were a bit small, and a bit flavorless for my tastes. They are a little bit better at lunch for two dollars less, but you only get one side.

If you have a healthy appetite, do not expect this dish to satisfy you. If, however, you like “mild” Mexican food, and have a small appetite, this dish might be perfect for you. If you want spicy Mexican, you’d do better going a few doors East to “Julia Blackbird’s.”

Everyone knows fideo is just chopped up vermicelli, and it is popular as a side with many Southwester restaurants, buy this fideo was more watery than any I’ve had before, and not particularly flavorful. It comes as one of your choices with either you lunch or dinner selection from the “West” menu – not really worth the $2.50 when purchased separately.

I ordered this with my dinner because I felt pretty certain it was vegetarian. I was very pleased with what they brought. The corn and zucchini flavors blended together well, and made me wish I had chose this for both of my side dishes. It is a good, flavorful, southwestern choice. Try it!

Actually, my wife ordered this, but she let me sample hers, and I wish I had ordered the same. I’m not a big fan of “sweet” in my Asian meals, but the coconut is done well in this one – not too overpowering – and the sauce is tasty. Add the spicy peppers they throw in, and that you can have the dish made with tofu, and it’s a winner – a nice balance between sweet, savory, and spicy. Well done!

I also like that this restaurant used the “firm” tofu. I suppose some people like the “soft” tofu, but it is my personal opinion that most people who believe they do not like tofu believe so because the tofu they tried was of the “soft” variety. Firm tofu has a better texture that holds its shape, and absorbs surrounding flavors more readily. If you think you don’t like tofu, try this dish made with tofu, and you just may change your mind.
