Last night we braved the cold and visited Buckshots. Had been there about 2 years ago (when it was Patsy’s) and was disappointed in the fare, atmosphere and the service. What a transformation! It is now clean, redecorated and welcoming. The menu is diverse with an emphasis on sandwiches, burgers, salads, and special entrées. I tried the catfish, fried Okra and hushpuppy basket while wife had the 1/4 lb hamburger on rye bread with seasoned fries. Having been to some of the better catfish places in Memphis and Mississippi, I thought the catfish at Buckshots was far superior to all of them! Thought I would get just a few battered fried okra like at most seafood restaurants and was surprised at the gigantic portion I received! Wife thought the hamburger on grilled rye was superb – as were the seasoned fries! Had enough left over for our light Saturday lunch. Dinner + wine and a beer was $25 – a real bargain for the quality and portions of food served. Our waitress Kelly was a role model for quality service, friendliness and courtesy. Owners Mark and Christal have turned the restaurant around! Will be eating there often!
