A Burmese food lover from St Thomas, 00 tried it, liked it, and rated it . They liked the food, liked the service, and liked the ambiance.

- the atmosphere is what it is, but imo, sometimes the crowded dank places are the best and actually make the "atmosphere" - - so I like it The staff are nice people, know their food and menu and help with ordering according to your likes and dislikes I jus

Why is Burma a Superstar?
Okay… I’ve heard a lot about this restaurant and if you ever drive by Clement, there’s always a line. I think its the nostalgia that this is going to be a one of a kind food find or because the wait is normally about 1-2 hours, but this place is always getting great reviews!
My quick 2 cents and advice… show up put your name down on the waiting list with your cell phone #. Head to Q’s for a glass of wine or walk up to the Bitter End for a pint. They will call you when they are ready. Try it once but not something I would call Super nor a Superstar.

Tremendous Burmese is worth the wait
Definitely worth the long waits. This Burmese restaurant excels at every dish it creates and after exploring other Burmese options, I’m even more convinced that SuperStar is the best Burmese around.
The Tea Leaf Salad and Rainbow Salad are as good as everyone says and I’d recommend including them in any meal at Burma SuperStar. Some of the less talked about dishes that blew me away were the pumpkin shrimp, which is in a pumpkin curry with large soft, but meaty, chunks of squash and shrimp. The curry and squash are terrific, while the shrimp is just very good. Their famous Samusa soup is also terrific, particularly because of the way the samusa dough melts into the soup. The ground catfish soup also has a wonderfully unique and hearty taste, while the coconut chicken noodle soup did not live up to the other two. I’m not much of a fan of beef, but I loved the beef kabat.
Live every review says (in more detail) expect a wait, but also expect a terrific meal.

I loved this salad the first few times I came, especially the pungent tea leafs. I had tea leaf salad again a few months later at Green Elephant Gourmet and thought it was also great. But when I came back here recently I realized that Burma’s SuperStar’s is better by far. Don’t miss this dish.

really good. a total firetrap, but it was hopping at 2 pm. the interesting thing about food here is that it leaves you to wonder — is this fusion food? or is this “cuisine of the country stuck in between these two other countries”? some dishes clearly had more thai elements to it, while others had a more indian flavor to it. person favorite: garlic egg noodles. hideyo’s favorite was the coconut chicken noodle soup. go nuts — it was worth it.

Amazing for Three Dishes
I’ve eaten here many times and tried most of the dishes they offer. The more often I went, the more frequently I would only order the Samusa Soup and the Rainbow Salad. Both dishes are amazing. If you crave more variety or more options, the Tea Leaf salad is a solid choice. The Burma Lemonade, or whatever they call the beer and lemonade drink, is a worthwhile companion.

This is simply the best soup I’ve had in the city. A completely different flavor than anything I had experienced previously. Order this and the Rainbow Salad for two and enjoy.

Burma Superstar, how I love thee
The food here is fantastic. Everything is always exactly as stated, exactly what I want, and is served hot and promptly.
They offer a ton of vegetarian options and the menu is very robust. They also offer “Americanized” type dishes for those who are less adventurous/don’t necessarily like Burmese food. :)
Minus 1 star for the usually hellishly long wait (if you come for lunch, you may not need to wait) and the average service. Everyone working here is super polite, but occasionally forget things or bump your table every time they walk by, etc.

I adore this dish. There are 22 different ingredients and each one shines in it’s own way. Savory, sweet, hot, cold, and spicy all at once!
Chicken Samusas
These are really tasty. I could probably eat like 17. They are little pockets full of mashed potatoes, peas, and curry chicken. Super tasty. Also come with a delicious red sauce that is a little spicy and very sweet. Only con is they are deep-fried and can sometimes be a little greasy.
Nan Pia Dok (Coconut Curry Flat Flour Noodles. Available with Chicken or Vegetarian) *
So. Good. Delicious, chewy noodles tossed with spicy chicken curry, onions, fried noodles, lemon juice, string beans, and a little bit of chili for added kick. You will keep eating this long after your full because it’s so ridiculously good.
