not impressed.
my husband and i went here because we got a deal through livingsocial for something like 50% off.
they have a huge wraparound deck, which was one of the main things that caught our eye and made us want to visit this summer. we made a reservation but for some reason they said we couldn’t reserve outside seating. luckily they found a spot for us outside and we only had to wait a few minutes.
it was all downhill from there… we didn’t see our waiter for at least 15 minutes after being seated. we had brought our own beer, and after the waiter finally did arrive, he didn’t even ask if we needed an ice bucket (the beer was warm by then) or glasses.
i ordered the tuna ceviche as a starter. first, the waiter brought me out the shrimp ceviche. i flagged him down and told him i had ordered the tuna… he was apologetic and i had the correct dish within 5 minutes. unfortunately, the tuna was horrible. i am a huge fan of ceviche and tuna in general (the rarer the better), but this was just bad. first of all, it was not marinated at all, as ceviche should be in citrus. it was just some sliced raw tuna on a plate with a few chopped up pieces of cucumbers and peppers strewn on top. it tasted… bad. really bad. like… i don’t even know what. chemicals? maybe it was previously frozen or just not fresh, i’m not sure. anyway… i had to send it back and told him i couldn’t eat it.
he came back within a few minutes and told me that the chef tasted it and said it was “fine,” and said that maybe the problem was that i just don’t like the taste of raw fish (?!?) he didn’t offer to replace the dish with another menu item, and my husband had to remind him at the end of our meal to take the tuna off the check.
maybe it was an off night, i don’t know… but i won’t be going back to find out!
