Burgers and More
I hesitate to write this review as Charm City has been one of my secret favorites for a while now, but the word is getting around, I suppose, so I might as well share. Do me a favor: don’t go on Friday nights between 7-8pm as it is REALLY CROWDED then. Gee, I hope that works…
Burgers are big business these days, what with 5 Guys, Smashburger, Shake Shack, etc., all throwing in their cards and one-upping each other in the new “burger wars.” The fast-food places have long since ceded any credibility they ever had when they stopped actually cooking their food on the premises due to the fear of food-borne organisms of sickness that can cost someone their life and the enterprise millions of dollars in today’s world ruled by lawyers—not that there’s anything wrong with lawyers, of course!
Anyway, head down to Charm City and see if it is your cup of tea. It is mine. Fresh burgers, correctly twice-fried fresh, hand-cut fries, and the best milkshakes and onion rings in town. Oh, lots of beer, too, of the strange and excellent kind for us beer lovers out there.
It doesn’t matter what you order—burger, dog, etc., Charm City does it right. Myself, being a traditionalist, I usually get the Good Ole, fries, and a non-carbonated drink as I get full eating all those fries. I sometimes get a double, but that is almost overkill unless you haven’t eaten all day and aren’t planning on eating the next day. Good? You bet!
The onion rings should be in the hall of fame as they are huge and excellent. The milkshakes—amazingly good and rich. The only downside to Charm City is that it can get crowded and I have to wait a while for my food. No worries—I bring a good book and Jason always takes good care of me since I tip well; I waited tables while I was in school and always tip well now that I can. It ain’t no fun to work hard and not make any money, especially if you are working at a great place like Charm City Burger. Remember, stay away on Friday nights!!
Dishes Tried:
Good Ole
Best burger around; 5 Guys is good, but no flavor. Charm City burgers burst with flavor—excellent beef, freshly ground and cooked to order. Freshly cut fries, fried twice like they are supposed to be.
