Small Roadside Grille and Bar

I don’t get out to Wal-mart very often, and since Clyde’s is bypassed by the Wal-mart exit going east, I only just noticed the place. From the outside, the lack of windows
makes the place look boarded up and abandoned, or like a biker bar to be avoided.
Inside, the dining area is dark. We had to ask the waitress to turn up the lights so we could read the menu. The lack of windows in the dining room makes the place a rather claustrophobic cave after a while. Could be a firetrap until you scope out the place to locate the fire exits.
The food? Not bad. We had an Angus burger, medium, which was properly cooked. We also had the pork ribs with Texas fries. The ribs were not smoked and the BBQ sauce was rather sparse. What there was of it was ok, not too sweet and not too spicy. Everyone has a different preference in terms of BBQ sauce. I just wish they had some squeeze bottles on the table with a variety of sauces. The steak sauce supplied was the A1 brand, I would prefer Lea and Perrins sauces. The pork ribs were cooked ok, but short on meat. The onion rings were undercooked with a rather strange and heavy coating of batter. Would I go back there again? Yes, for a quick meal, but not to stick around and play the pencil and paper games they offer. I go out to a restaurant to get out of the house and usually try to get window seats wherever I go. The lack of windows in the dining area here is depressing.
Finding good BBQ in the Boston metro area is difficult. For real BBQ with a BBQ sauce that will please everyone, go to The Village Smokehouse, One Harvard Street, in Brookline Village (parking only available onstreet or in the city parking lots).

Pork Ribs, Texas Fries

Ribs not smoked, very little meat, BBQ sauce ok but sparse, not too sweet or spicy.
Texas Fries ok (fried whole potato, sliced lengthwise).

All American Burger, Angus Beef

Large burger, cooked as requested, with thick fries.

Onion Rings

Undercooked, with strange heavy coating of batter.
