Creekside Grille offers al fresco dining in Temecula, CA

Amidst the beautiful grounds of the Wilson Creek Winery, Creekside Grille offers al fresco dining so you soak up the surroundings. The restaurant is under a huge lattice covered patio with the beautiful courtyard in front and the vineyard in the back. The soft breeze rustles through with scents of from the vineyard, wine, and the food being created in the kitchen. Executive Chef Steve Stawinski brings 20 years of hospitality experience to Creekside Grille, Porter’s Prime Steakhouse and also former Chef de Cuisine for Hilton Hotels to name a few. Ready your taste buds as we start our culinary adventure!

Lamb Sliders

Lamb Sliders are topped with local wild arugula and minted béarnaise. The lamb patties were grilled to perfection, juicy and lean. The brioche buns had the right amount of egg flavor and a spongy texture. But the minted béarnaise was too subtle and difficult to taste in the dish. The potato wedges were wonderful – crispy with a kettle chip flavor. Thumbs up!

Beets were roasted Crow’s Pass Beets with tangerines, pickled red onion, Shaft’s bleu cheese, local wild arugula, and blood orange vinaigrette. The beets were perfectly cooked to bring out their sweetness. The tangerines were fresh and bursting with sweet citrus flavor. The pickled red onion wasn’t too vinegary but enough to counteract the strong onion flavor. The blue cheese was amazingly creamy and had a nice bite to it. The arugula was peppery and just a tad bitter. The vinaigrette brought everything together for a balanced dish. Perfectly executed! Thumbs up, way up!

Creekside Burger

Creekside Burger is all natural California ground chuck, goat milk cheddar cheese, fried avocado, heirloom tomato, spring greens, house thousand island, local organic arugula, red onion confit, and Creekside sauce atop a potato Kaiser roll. This is a HUGE burger! The burger was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The goat milk cheddar cheese was creamy and delicate. The fried avocados were ripe and creamy with an added crunchiness from the light outer batter. The potato Kaiser was fluffy with an excellent potato essence. Thumbs up!

Salmon BLT

Salmon BLT is Skuna Bay salmon, apple wood bacon, heirloom tomato, spring greens, and cracked pepper aioli atop a potato bun. The salmon fillet was perfectly grilled – juicy and succulent. The bacon was crispy and added a salty, smoky flavor. The perfect sandwich for a summer day! The 3-bean salad was refreshing and not at all vinegary like your typical picnic salad. It went really well with the salmon. Thumbs up!

Blueberry Stilton Cheesecake

Blueberry Stilton Cheesecake served with a berry coulis and lemon mascarpone. The cheesecake was fluffy almost like a mousse with an unusual texture. The blueberries were plump and juicy. The lemon mascarpone was fluffy and richer than the actual cheesecake. The preserved lemon slivers on top were okay. The bitter, salty, sour flavor didn’t really match the cheesecake. Thumbs up!

“Decadencia” Chocolate Cup

“Decadencia” Chocolate Cup is the Reserve “Decadencia” Chocolate Port presented in a Dutch dark chocolate shot glass. The port is made from century-old “Old Vine” Zinfandel with a touch of natural chocolate. It was good but not as good as their 2009 Reserve Late Harvest Zinfandel Port. Thumbs up!

Great NEW winery restaurant!

Wow- this place is great! loved the outdoor dining room and the delicious Almond Champagne. Was there on Saturday, and thank goodness we had a reservation- you should too! as the restaurant was cranking! Loved the Salmon over brown rice (trying to be healthy for summer) and husband had the famous Rueban sandwich- named after Gerry Wilson- who I met at the restaurant. Great man. Anyway- would totally recommend this place.

Grilled Salmon over brown rice

Love it! Just the ticket on a hot day. Went great with the bottle of Almond Champagne we got.

It all started one day in 1996, when the Wilson family acquired a 20-acre winery. Their plan was simple: run a fun, family business producing great wines from the perfect climate and soil of the Temecula Valley. Since then, they have…

Great wine and champagne

By the time we got to Wilson we had already had a few glasses of wine at other wineries in the area, but we had been recommended to try the Almond Champagne. It was wonderful and we brought home a couple of bottles for a special occasion…
