Dagwood's

I’ve always wondered about this place as I’ve frequented adjacent retail stores for the past several years. Well, last week, I HAD to cross the street from the Coffee Bean side of the street (uh, in male-speak, that’s, uh, the north side of the street, but I’ll continue back in girl-speak now) because the small AT&T store didn’t have what I needed, so I was forced to try the bigger AT&T retail store in my quest to quickly replace my “body’s not even cold” blackberry….like STAT!

Those AT&T guys were great, but that’s another review. I was visiting those phone guys nightly for 3 nights in a row for one thing or another, so fate was just double daring me to check out this pizza joint!! It has a very laid back beach vibe inside which I liked.

I ordered a pepperoni pizza by the slice to go, and while this is no authentic NY style pizza, it comes pretty darn close. It has a hearty taste and I looove, looove, love the thin/crispy and kinda dry crust!! Between this place and Bollini’s (yeah, I know, different style and taste), I’m lovin’ it!

The reason I gave it a medium rating of just 3 stars is because I’m not a fan of their salads. I tried the avocado salad a few nights ago, and its just so so. For relatively the same price, I’ve had waaaay better salads at a little caterer turned cafe that just sprung up across my office called Ta-Da’s. Yep, that’s another review I’ll have to find the time to write.

I had no problems with service, friendliness, etc. I felt like I got my order pretty quickly, so for take out, all’s pretty good.

I haven’t ventured away from their pizzas and salads to be able to review the rest of their menu. But, I’m totally hooked and craving their pizzas now.

Good pizza and sides, appropriate atmosphere, an extensive menu, and they deliver. Conveniently located on Wilshire in Santa Monica, Dagwood’s arguably provides the best pizza in the area.
