Hearty food, but what else is pub food?
If you’re in a mood for pub style English food, come here! I never tried the fish and chips here, but between my friends and I, we got shepherd’s pies, Cornish Pasty, and a chicken and mushroom pie. It was all good and EXTREMELY FILLING. But I guess all English food (at least all the english food I’ve tried) is that way.
This place is not quiet, it’s some what loud with people talking and has great decor with this lovely red print wallpaper. I think there are dartboards in the corner too. The food isn’t greatly cheap but it does taste rather good if you’re in the mood for pub food.
It is also located in an odd place as it’s in the middle of a pan-Asian plaza. Will actually post up more info about the food I actually tried later. Definitely a fun place to eat tho.

This place is kinda of a throwback. It’s been around probably 25 years or more. Inside it has the British theme down, which you don’t really see with new restaurants anymore. I’ve tried the beef wellington and prime rib. The beef wellington is good and has been recommended by Brits from what I hear. The prime rib nice and tender. Next time I need to try the fish and chips and shepherds pie which I hear are also good.

Old Speckled Hen
In the ‘Cupertino Pub Scene’ — I don’t know what else to call it… not much of a scene, there seems to be only two ‘major’ bars, Britannia Arms which is always crowded as heck and Duke of Edinburgh. Small group of friends decided to go there because we were bored on a break night. This review contains no food reviews, and only 1 beer review.
Environment: I liked how we got to sit in a very private and quiet booth, while the more rowdy patrons were dancin’ to the jukebox and playing darts. It was a good pub environment, got the usual stuff going on but no crowd. I freakin’ hate crowded bars!
Old Speckled Hen: This particular pitcher was $20. Split between 5 people basically 5 bucks a pint after tax and tip. Sorta expensive but it was new beer experience. It tasted pretty good though, with a very sweet and creamy aftertaste. I would recommend this drink. Remember it though, “OLD SPECKLED HEN” lol i had to re-search the drink since it had such a unique name.

- The fried calamari was great. The sauce they used was very delicious and tangy. I really enjoyed this with a Thai tea.
